He performs on another eight albums as a member of the Rugburns or the Hatchet Brothers (with Frank Lee Drennen of Loam), and he’s produced music for over two dozen artists, including Jason Mraz and Tom Brosseau. He won a pair of San Diego Music Awards in 2021, taking home trophies for Album of the Year and Best Pop Album for his full-length One Hell of a Memory.

Brazil native Rafael Pondé relocated to Ocean Beach in 2022, living at first in his minivan. The East Village performance is part of a release show for his ninth studio album Brazilian Reggae Experience Vol. 2, his first full-length to feature original songs in English. Rooted in conscious music, the album is the result of his journey into yoga and meditation. Its lyrics explore themes of self-confidence, self-realization, culture, joy, poetry, love, gratitude, and a deep connection to Mother Nature. Recorded in both the United States (at The Music Company in Pacific Beach) and Brazil throughout 2024, the album reflects the duality of his life between two countries.

Among the influences she cites are Ella Fitzgerald, Helen Forrest, The Andrew Sisters, Jason Mraz, Cyrille Aimee, and Post-Modern Jukebox. Her stage presentation is akin to likeminded locals such as Sacha Boutros, Victoria Robertson, and Miss Erika Davies. In late 2022, Brzeski released her debut album Vintage Girl In a Modern World, partially recorded by Rolling Stones producer Alan Sanderson at local Pacific Beat Studio.

Folkies at heart, they bring sweet vocal harmony and a string band sound to rock and Americana. Recommended if you like the sounds of locals such as Berkley Hart, the Coyote Problem, Robin Henkel, Six String Society, and Shawn Rohlf, their influences include Gram Parsons, Townes Van Zandt, Gillian Welch, Dave Rawlings, and Bob Dylan.

"We have all been friends since we were kids on the Big Island," says Iration, who blend reggae with pop and influences from their Hawaiian youth. Though they began as a college bar band, they’re now one of the most popular and best-known groups on the island music festival circuit, with members living in Santa Barbara and northern San Diego. They frequently collaborate on record and on the road with local reggae acts Tribal Seeds, Hirie, Pepper, and Slightly Stoopid, including taking part in the latter’s Sounds Of Summer tours. The bill includes Inner Circle, a Jamaican reggae band formed in Kingston in 1968.
