Letters from Persephone

Over the course of 25 years of handwritten correspondence with my pen pal Persephone, none had ever been returned. Imagine my confusion when my last letter reappeared a couple of weeks later, unopened and defaced ...

Italian dip sandwich not so dainty

A popular wedding food among poor Italian immigrants

I don't know why football season makes me crave Italian beef sandwiches. I've never lived in Chicago, and only ever visited the Windy City in the spring. I'd blame the onset of fall weather, if ...

What is that incessant whining sound coming from the airport? It's gone on all day and into the night for awhile. It sounds like the sound that comes from a stucco truck when it coats a house. But it's further and likely coming from the airport. Anyone know?

Dear professor Irwin M. Jacobs,

Police came to Mission Hills library on Friday Oct 9th at around 5:PM to respond to an assault but because the library doesn't have security cameras there wasn't much hope for the children who use the library. we need cameras at the city libraries not security guards playing with their smart phones

Two windows were boarded-up at the Mission Hills library 9-13. Such a secretive area. All glass was in place 9-12.

I LOST MY LIBRARY WHEN A HOMELESS PERSON WHO WAS FORCED TO EXIT MY LOCAL LIBRARY BECAUSE he was sleeping with a book in his lap returned later that evening and broke some glass.

In years past the homeless would just take a dump in the front doorway of a business like a 'starbucks' that created a beef with their lifestyle.Hepatitis ''a'' has been declared a crisis among the homeless and is carried from the street to the computer terminals in the library
