Acoustic Evenings at the Athenaeum presents Tim Flannery, a former San Diego Padre and a longtime local musician. By late 2014, the son of a Kentucky preacher had officially retired from his job as third base coach for the San Francisco Giants and announced plans to increase his focus on his growing career as a singer-songwriter. The following year, he released Three Ring Circus, establishing his crowd-friendly acoustic blend of folk and country music. The La Jolla bill includes Jeff Berkley (of local folk duo Berkley Hart) and Ashley Norton.

Fronted by singer John Haskin, Theosis combines speed metal, melodic nu-metal, and thrash metal with powerful vocals, hard-hitting double bass, and harmonized guitar riffs. Citing influences such as Testament, Pantera, Iron Maiden, and Slayer, their debut full-length The Plague and the Heretic was released in 2016 via their own label Dead Sea Records. Among their more recent tracks is “Thy Sea Giveth,” for which a concert video was shot at Brick last year. Also appearing in Linda Vista will be Nightshadow, Punkrock Time Machine, and Out of Chances.
Hey, Chels at the Tower Bar

Dream pop-punk band Hey, Chels was founded by Jacque Mendez (New Way On) on vocals and electric piano, Stephanie Presz (the Newports) on drums, Kevin White (Squarecrow, Londons Falling) on guitar, and Ricky Schmidt (Western Settings, Caskitt) playing bass. Among their early singles was “Cross My Arms” and “Take Me Anywhere,” both of which earned positive reviews online as well as a steadily growing number of streams. The debut self-titled EP, produced by Patrick Ryan Heaney (Cage the Elephant, Cold War Kids, the War On Drugs), was released on vinyl via Via La Escalera Records, Wiretap Records, and A-F Records. They released a new single a while back called “Playin’” that also came with a full music video.

The Mothmen sport deep ties in the San Diego scene via groups like the Crawdaddys, the Penetrators, the Tell-Tale Hearts, and the Unknowns. Most of the vocals are provided by Tucson born Ray Brandes, who has been a teacher at Point Loma High School, San Diego School for the Creative and Performing Arts, Montgomery Middle School, and San Diego Metropolitan Regional Career and Technical High School. The band specializes in retro rock and roll, with a solid dose of R&B with a ‘60s-era garage shellac. The bill includes Westwinders.
Lee Coulter at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa

Based in Encinitas, singer/guitarist Lee Coulter is a soulful troubadour along the lines of Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, and local ladies man Michael Tiernan. Also a children’s book author and motivational speaker, he’s known for upbeat albums such as Mr Positivity and for tracks such as “A Glorious Day on the Planet I Love.” His single “We You Me” reached the number one slot on iTunes Australia and iTunes NZ. At the 2021 San Diego Music Awards, Coulter took home the trophy for Best Folk or Acoustic Song: "Look Away." Some of his more recent songs include an ode to free will called “The Gift” and a Halloween-themed track called “Quick Turn” that also has a creepy music video.
