Tribal Seeds will be sharing the bill with Iration on June 25 at Petco Park

“We have all been friends since we were kids on the Big Island,” says Iration, whose members blend reggae with pop and influences from their Hawaiian youth. Though they began as a college bar band, they’re now one of the most popular and best-known groups on the summer island music festival circuit, with members living in Santa Barbara and northern San Diego. They frequently collaborate on record and on the road with local reggae acts Hirie, Pepper, Slightly Stoopid, and Tribal Seeds, with the latter band sharing this East Village “Where It All Began” bill. Based in Chula Vista, Tribal Seeds were founded by two brothers, both raised playing instruments since early childhood. They won a 2008 Best World [Music] trophy at the San Diego Music Awards and began a steady stream of top-ten appearances on the Billboard reggae album charts with their second full-length, 2009’s The Harvest. Over the years, the band has collaborated in the studio with Sonny Sandoval (P.O.D.), Eric Rachmany (Rebelution), and reggae icon Don Carlos.
Songwriter Sanctuary at Normal Heights United Methodist Church

The monthly Songwriter Sanctuary series features local songwriters sharing stories behind their songs in a Nashville-style in-the-round format. Hosted in an acoustically outstanding hundred year-old sanctuary that was once home to the Acoustic Music San Diego series, the performances are curated by Lovebirds singer-songwriter Lindsay White. This edition celebrates LGBTQ+Pride Month and includes Saint Misty, a synth-pop artist who was raised in a religious home and joined a radical Christian cult before finally breaking free to embrace her identity as a lesbian. She released her debut album Hallelujah, Holy Shit in summer 2025 and has a new performance video featuring two recent singles, “Night Butterfly” and “Beach Break.” The Dimes are a six-piece rock band whose sets swing from riot grrrl to queer yearning to absurdism. Daddy is a sparkly indie glitter rock project of vocalist/guitarist Brooke Patterson and bassist Jessica Muchnick, two high school acquaintances turned best friends and bandmates. Julian Frost will open the all-ages evening at 6 pm with an unplugged set on the sidewalk stage benefiting the Sanctuary’s Pre Show Pantry Jam community care initiative, which encourages attendees to arrive a early with unopened/unexpired donations for the venue’s community fridge, pantry, and closet.

This Ocean Beach Street Fair & Chili Cook-Off Showcase features Gunner Gunner, whose hard rock sound pays homage to classic, throwback rock and roll while infusing relentless guitar riffs, gritty energy, and powerful vocals. The group is heavily inspired by 70s and 80s arena rock, delivering high-octane anthems designed for live performances. The double-Gunners have a new music video streaming online for their track “Anthem For a Rebel,” taken from a recent 4-song EP titled Honey that was preceded by a single for “Come Down.” The evening bill includes locals Kings Tide, a melodic skate-punk band influenced by acts like Bad Religion, NOFX, and Goldfinger also known for fiery alt-covers. In addition, the venue will be hosting daytime performances by bands such as locals Brian Jones Rock ‘N’ Roll Revival, who formed in 2015 and played original blues-based rock on their debut 2016 album A Real Good Time. Also appearing for daylight sets are Darbuka Denn, Arcadia, and the Rolling Blackouts.

Formed in 2002, Lower Definition is a post-hardcore band known foremotional intensity, soaring melodies, and blending screamo elements with atmospheric rock instrumentation. They were the only local unsigned group invited to play the Taste of Chaos tour at the Sports Arena in 2006, having won the slot in a MySpace popularity poll. A debut album dropped in 2008 called The Greatest Of All Lost Arts, featuring guest vocals from Johnny Craig of Emarosa (formerly of Dance Gavin Dance). That was followed by an EP and a long period of inactivity from 2009 onward. They reunited around 2020 and recently released a single and music video for the song “Godmode” and a visualizer video for “Blackflower,” both taken from their sophomore full-length that finally dropped in January, The Purpose of the Moon.

Pacific Beach will host a musical showcase called Backroads Of the Americas: A Spanish Guitar Journey featuring Spanish Latin Grammy-winning guitarist Diego Garcia, aka Twanguero. Classically trained at the Conservatory of Valencia, Spain from the age of six, Garcia’s signature Latino-twang sound features a flawless fingerpicking technique that draws influences from traditional Spanish and flamenco guitar, American folk music, and 1950s rockabilly, and includes elements of country music and even surf rock. This solo guitar performance will be shaped by Garcia’s cultural roots, Latin American rhythms, cinematic melodies, and years spent traveling the backroads between cultures and traditions. Presented in a true listening-room format, the evening invites the audience into a rare up-close musical experience where every nuance of the guitar can fully breathe. The night will feature music from his celebrated acoustic albums including Carreteras Secundarias, The Brooklyn Session, Argentina Songbook, and selections inspired by Panamerica, alongside new unreleased music.
