Forester
Taking their name somewhat literally, Forester is an indie-electronic duo known for blending organic acoustic folk sounds with electronic beats and production, creating what they refer to as “nature inspired” music. With songs frequently inspired by the forests, mountains, deserts, and other natural wonders of California, their lush tracks are composed and designed to be both introspective and danceable, with lyrics often focusing on themes of conservation and the outdoors. Consisting of Xander Carlson and David Parris, they’re known for albums like Kerosene and A Range of Light and have performed at notable festivals including Outside Lands and Ultra Music Festival. They’re touring in support of their fifth studio album Somewhere In Between, released in March. The bill includes Italian-born Los Angeles-based electronic artist Andrea Calabria, known for his breakout single “Have It All,” which earned rotation on SiriusXM Chill and made editorial playlists on Spotify and Apple Music.

Rhythm of the Earth Mindful Music Festival
Escondido’s Deer Park Monastery is a 400-acre center for monastic training and mindfulness practice that sits nestled in the chaparral mountains. The site was founded by Vietnamese Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh, a Zen master, peace activist, and author known as The Father of Mindfulness whose “Engaged Buddhism” movement blends mindfulness with social action. In the 60s and 70s, he introduced mindfulness to the West as a way of living happily in the present moment. Although he passed away in 2022, he is remembered for his teachings on "interbeing," which posits that all things are connected. In that spirit, the Rhythm of the Earth Mindful Music Festival was launched, with the Monastery hosting a day where music, mindfulness, and nature come together in harmony. “This in-person festival is an invitation to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect,” say event promoters, “with the rhythms of the Earth, with one another, and with the simple joy of being alive.” Expect soulful music, calming rhythms, mindful activities, and a welcoming community rooted in peace and positive energy. Headliner Born I is a Washington, D.C.-based Ghanaian-American artist known for blending hip-hop with EDM, bass music, and conscious mindfulness. Other performers include Alyson Greenfield, Makeda Makossa & the World Beat Drum and Dance, and Free Cloud Collective, an all-star jazz ensemble featuring Alex Cline, Joshua White, Dwight Trible, Chris DiMeglio, and Peter Kuhn.
