The Paladins were already combining country and early rock ‘n’ roll with blues and rockabilly while still attending high school. In the 1980s, you could find them playing around 200 shows per year, driving up to 75,000 miles annually. They’ve performed and toured with Stevie Ray Vaughan, Los Lobos, X, the Blasters, and the Fabulous Thunderbirds. In fact, it was Fabulous Thunderbirds frontman Kim Wilson who took the Paladins into an Austin, Texas studio and recorded their self-titled 1987 debut album. For a while, they even brewed their own beer and shared it backstage. In 2018, the band received a San Diego Music Awards Lifetime Achievement trophy.

Regarding her band The Stingers, she says "There are several writers in the group, so subtle hints of other genres occasionally come through, such as indie rock and soul music." She also performs solo, and does occasional tribute sets to artists such as Taylor Swift. The City Heights show is headlined by theatrical/operatic western rocker Elizabeth Bowersox, with a lineup that also includes Chloe Lou and the Lidells.
