Joseph Paternal, Longtime Leader of St. James Parish Scout Troop #384, Garners $500,000 Grant From Philanthropist Gerald Sandusi to Start Urban Flag Football League.

No Takers So Far

"I can't understand the lack of response so far," said Paternal. "There are lots of Catholic boys in San Diego, and many of them are members of parishes affiliated with San Diego's Catholic Committee on Scouting. And boys love football. I just don't see why they should shy away from an opportunity like this. Sandusi has been so generous; you'd think the kids would be touched by his gesture and respond."

This article is utterly bogus, so far as I can tell. Certainly my search engine has never heard of any of the names you mention except for San Diego's Catholic Committee on Scouting, on who's website I found this gem:

DAY AT THE SEMINARY Prince of Peace Abbey

Boy Scouts and Venture Scouts are invited to tour Prince of Peace Abbey to learn about vocations. The day consist of Mass, a tour of the Abbey, and lunch. It will probably be held in March.

For the uninitiated, "learn about vocations" means the seminary gets a chance to pitch the priesthood as a profession to a captive audience of impressionable teenage males. Make up your own joke.
