SDSU $575-an-hour lobbying deal revealed
Surprise? NO. Chris Cate is a do nothing out for himself and kisses butt to every developer who can line his pockets. SDSU is culpable as the developers and lobbyists. Soccer City was the deal to be had and instead the local yokels of SD believed their great state college was telling the truth. This deal is going to soak taxpayers and the reputation of SD officeholders while giving SDSU a huge piece of land that will benefit ONLY SDSU. SD blew it again. Money hungry when their bank belly is already full-that's SD officeholders and developers in a nutshell.— April 3, 2019 10:26 a.m.
Airbnb vans invade San Diego streets
I am going to buy the gutter, drain, and sidewalk in front of my house. Then I will advertise an AirBnB with running water, full bath, and gym. San Diego, this is your future...while the Jacobs and other money hoarders live on the high ground. Oh, that is the present in San Diego.— March 10, 2019 11:38 a.m.
Scooters on the Coronado bridge
All the comments are probably from the same type of people who cry that the government is taking away our freedoms, liberty, and rights. But is okay to ban a legitimate option to automobiles or complain about kids having fun. Go find a hobby like a charity that helps people instead of complaining about scooters...or in other words, allow people their freedom. Half of you are probably hermits that watch Fox news all day.— February 28, 2019 1:23 p.m.
East Village's birdman loses Sydney, run over by trolley
Sorry story...all the blessings and goodness to the bird and Victor. We are better than this!— February 12, 2019 2:55 p.m.
South Park woman's anti-scooter crusade
Old bird, why don't you do something productive instead of complaining about scooters being on public land. That's not your Grape street plaza, it's everyones. She blocks my way on the sidewalk and she'll be sideways.— February 8, 2019 5:23 p.m.
Bite San Diego: Liberty Station
"Bite: San Diego." Should be called San Diego bites!— January 12, 2019 11:18 a.m.
If you think San Diego is nirvana...
Nirvana? Are YFKM? This place wouldn't be Nirvana if Kurt Cobain came back from the dead and produced an album with every San Diego resident. Nirvana bahbahbah, hahahahahha, they said "Nirvana."— January 12, 2019 11:16 a.m.
Imperial Beach couple stops porch thieves
Again, SDPD refuses to do their basic duties/ jobs: can't arrest them because it wasn't a real package? What does that matter? The fake package was somebody else's property, two people stole it from a private residence. That is blatant thievery. Come on...if it was the mayor's dog poop SDPD would be arresting someone. How lazy can police be? Oh, as lazy as the SDPD. Of course, no political officials are going to step in; rather they step in it by not demanding the cops do their job.— December 19, 2018 11:37 a.m.
Vigilantes root out rooftop camps on Garnet
Now the homeless problem is directly affecting the money, "help, help Mayor, we need your political help." Watch thinning hairman step in with another short term political answer rather than policy that would not only mitigate the problems with homelessness but a set of solutions to stop the problems at their roots. Oh, but wait, first San Diego must have another Veterans Day parade before helping anyone but the DOD. The problems associated with the homeless are NEVER going away from this city because it's all about the money and military community not anyone else. GOODNIGHT IRENE— December 17, 2018 1:04 p.m.
Obscenely delayed police response
I agree 100% with the author. To add: the trolley is nothing more than mobile insane asylum while the many "beautiful" beaches are collection areas for the homeless and mentally ill-and, yes they randomly yell at people making a very unsafe environment. The only time the city does anything about the homeless and criminal is when there's an emergency such as the Hep A outbreak-then they gathered the homeless under big tents to hide the problem. When you call the police for help regarding anything you receive a recording that tells you they are "understaffed." Yeah, great way to make the public feel safe and send a political message about the budget. If they're so understaffed why do you see them hanging out in pairs by the Liberty Station channel and on Liberty Station doing nothing-not to mention hiding in various spots throughout S.D. But when a coffee or doughnut shop is willing to give them free coffee, they're there in a heartbeat instead of being proactive to the public's concerns. Great leadership mayor!— November 9, 2018 8:52 a.m.
