Homeless Sexuals at Kensington Club

Full Contact Rock & Roll presents a night of Irish folk punk rock, as well as a Bad Religion tribute band named Baked Religion. Headliners Downs Family mixes traditional Irish folk tunes with genres like bluegrass, polka, and the blues. The bill includes Homeless Sexuals, fronted by David Buck (who used to book Thursday punk showcases for the Brass Rail in Hillcrest), who have been playing unpredictable punk around since the early 2000s. This will be their first show in around two years, debuting a new three-guitar lineup: Chris Henry, Scott Cates, and Chris Brown, accompanied by bassist Sara and drummer Louie Martinez.

Manzanita Blues was formed in 2017 as a blues cover band, playing rockin’ blues around San Diego’s East County. They began writing and performing original music in 2019 and released their first CD in 2020, Manzanita Blues TO DAY (See Through Records). They cite among their influences Etta James, Allman Brothers, Gary Moore, Beth Hart, Candye Kane, Tommy Castro, Delbert McClinton, Charlie Musselwhite, Ana Popovic, and Koko Taylor.

Sorry It's Over was formed by Louis Petrella and Sam Adgate, who were bandmates since high school until moving together to Santa Barbara for a few years. Returning to San Diego, they decided to start working on original music together. For their debut singles, the band worked with LA’s Godfather of Punk Geza X, producer for Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, the Germs, and “Bitch” by Meredith Brooks. The show also includes opening set performances from The Reud and Sound Cookie.

Renowned Chapman Stick player Tom Griesgraber, who also regularly plays with the California Guitar Trio, is considered one of the world’s best players of the Chapman Stick, made famous by King Crimson/Peter Gabriel band member Tony Levin. The Stick is played by tapping the strings like piano keys, with bass strings tuned in ascending fifths and melody strings in descending fourths, providing a wide tonal range of sounds. Griesgraber will kick off the night with his genre-blending solo performance. Headliner Stick Men features Tony Levin, Pat Mastelotto, and Markus Reuter. Mastelotto and Reuter were the first national touring act to perform at The Bornemann along with Trey Gunn and their band TU-NER.

Tyler F. Simmons is a solo performer who’s become a regular fixture at area restaurants, hotels, private clubs, and outdoor venues throughout southern California. He’s held residencies at Four Seasons Westlake Village and the Ritz Carlton Rancho Mirage, as well as performing at the PGA Tour and for corporate clients such as Charles Schwab.
