Christian Taylor at Cannonball

December 11

Singer Christian Taylor is known for his raspy, soulful voice. The grandson of the Ventures drummer Mel Taylor and Las Vegas musician Mary Kaye, he’s also a track and field athlete who specializes in the triple jump. Taylor blends a love for soul, blues, and Americana into his own raw sound, relying mostly on his distinct voice. His debut album Daydream was released in 2016, followed by an in-studio EP, The Citizen Sessions, in 2017. Taylor signed with San Diego's Pacific Records in late 2019, just before he performed at that year’s Wonderfront Festival. He released a new EP last year called The Moon View Sessions, and a new single dropped in March, “A River That Hummed In Sleep.”

Orion Song at Mission Bay Resort

December 12

Neo-soul R&B vocalist Orion Song is a solo performer who got his start writing acoustically off of a baritone ukulele. His music melds old and new hip-hop and R&B, with tastes of trap, lo-fi, jazz, and soul. Not conforming to one genre, he cites diverse inspirations such as Justin Timberlake, Usher, Nujabes, Bryson Tiller, and Craig David. He describes his music as having a "breezy" sound and often includes personal introspection and influences from 90s and 2000s R&B artists. A multi-instrumentalist, he uses his music to explore themes like self-love, devotion, and ambition.

Freddie Walton at Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina

An accomplished guitarist and an aspiring pianist with a soulful beach vibe that blends heartfelt lyrics with smooth melodies, Freddie Walton is a San Diego native with a big personality and heavy influences from the likes of Bill Withers, Dave Matthews, John Mayer, John Legend, Bruno Mars, and Otis Redding. He blends these styles together to create interactive performances that foster great conversations and a relaxing atmosphere.

Tom Griesgraber at The Bornemann

December 14

Prog rock trio Stick Men features players known for their mastery of the complex bass-like instrument known at the Chapman Stick, as heard in music from artists such as King Crimson and Peter Gabriel. Stick Men — featuring Tony Levin, Pat Mastelotto, and Markus Reuter — return for a holiday weekend performance, on a bill that includes local Stick player Tom Griesgraber (California Guitar Trio). Griesgraber's new album The Split contains the music he wrote and performed for the full-length documentary film Prairie Prophecy, featuring all 19 tracks from the movie, as well as two bonus songs created as alternates. Tracks are presented in the order they appear in the film, with recurring motifs and themes that develop throughout. The music includes Griesgraber on Chapman Stick, analog synths, and samples, with his California Guitar Trio bandmate Bert Lams making a guest appearance on one track.

Dude Cervantes & the Panchos at the Casbah

December 14

Psychedelic storyteller Daniel “Dude” Cervantes is a San Diego born guitarist, singer-songwriter, record producer, and label owner best known as the guitarist for Mrs. Henry, Howlin’ Rain, and Chest Fever. For this Little Italy matinee show, Cervantes will debut his first solo concert album, The Ride Or Die Of Dude Cervantes & the Panchos, recorded live at the Hotel Café in April 2023 and preceded so far by singles for “Lesson Learned” and for his version of the Santana classic “Samba Pa Ti.” The album features The Panchos, with guitarist Dylan Donovan (Sacri Monti), Justin De La Vega (Warish), and bassist Ryan Grenda. The event will be opened around 4PM by local Tex-Mex/Americana roots band The Sleepwalkers.
