Harbor Patrol investigated a minor vessel collision in the Chula Vista Marina. Two vessels collided while one of them was attempting to enter a slip. The damage was minor.

Buoy 22 — windsurfer did not have enough wind to get back up on his board.

07:51 Medical: 27 year-old male seizures at the foot of Del Monte, on the bluffs. Lifeguard , emergency and medical units respond. Lifeguard locates the Patient. Walked to Santa Cruz St. Medical to UCSD.

10:41 Medical: Allergic reaction. Paradise Point Resort. Victim unknown age and sex. Lifeguard, medical units respond. Fire on scene, lifeguards cancelled.

10:52 Swimming: Water rescue at the Shack at Windansea Beach.

13:03 Medical: Surfing accident at Felspar St. Lifeguards respond. 16 year-old male with head injury released against medical advice by lifeguards.

14:38 Medical: 61 year-old male head vs. the ocean bottom at Mission Beach. Lifeguard, emergency and medical units respond. Medical to Scripps La Jolla.

14:41 Boating: Disabled vessel in the channel. 23 ft. boat 3 persons onboard. Medical and lifeguard respond. Vessel deploys anchor and calls vessel assist.

15:07 Boating: PD175K vessel dead in the water, requests a tow from lieguards. Lifeguard boat unit responds and tows boat back to dock.

15:45 Medical: 38 year-old female head vs. ocean bottom. C-spine. Lifeguards, emergency and medical respond. Patient released against medical advice.

16:00 Other: Whale entangled in line 1.6 miles west of South Bird Rock. Rescue Patrol vessel Fire Fly. USCG and Sea World notified. Vessel Hook Up frees whale of line 17:15.

18:12 Medical: 24 year-old male, alcohol on board at Windansea Beach. Lifeguard, medical and emergency respond. Patient released against medical advice.

18:25 Medical: 12 year-old male traumatic injuries. Surfboard to the face. Lifeguard, medical and emergency respond to Windansea Beach. Medical to Children’s.

10:16 Swimming: Pier jumper at Ocean Beach Pier. Lifeguard boat unit, lifeguards and emergency respond. PD and LGs search the area. Lifeguard meets with reporting person who states they saw a male in boxer shorts come out of the water. Station A advises that the suspect called and confessed that he jumped, is OK and safe at home. Did not give any more information. Did not want to get into trouble.

September 1

08:35 Boating: 36 ft. sport fishing vessel on fire. 6 persons on board 10 miles off Young Hall. Rescue, medical boat units and USCG on scene. Vessel fully engulfed, all persons accounted for, and transferred to USCG. Vessel sunk.

09:53 Boating: 2 Personal watercrafts near the surf at Hogan’s. Lifeguard boat unit on scene, clear.

11:19 Swimming: Possible distress, 1 swimmer off Torrey Pines. Lifeguard on scene, confirms person is clear.

12:29 Medical: 15 year-old male, C-spine injury from body surfing accident. Lifeguards, emergency and medical on scene. Transported to Children’s.

12:57 Medical: Back pain, fall on a boat, in Mission Bay Channel. Lifeguard, emergency and medical on scene. Transported to Mercy.

13:15 Medical: 70 year-old male with heat issues at PB. Lifeguard, emergency and medical on scene. Medical handles.

13:28 Boating: 20 ft. fishing boat near the surf at Tower 22. Lifeguards on scene. Clear with warnings.

13:30 Medical: 30 year-old with alcohol on board at 700 Ventura. Lifeguard, emergency and medical on scene. Transported to UCSD.

13:40 Cliff: Non-injury cliff call at Blacks Beach in the Windows area. 31 year-old female. Multiple lifeguard units, medical on scene. One extrication.

14:21 Medical: Sting ray at Blacks Beach. Lifeguard on scene, Treat and release.

14:26 Medical: Sting ray at Blacks Beach. Lifeguard unable to locate.

20:23 Enforcement: 5150 at Ocean Beach Market. Lifeguard, SDPD on scene. SPPD takes into custody.

August 31

Harbor Patrol responded to Marina Cortez to investigate the theft of fishing gear from a vessel.

Harbor Patrol unit dispatched to the A-3 Laurel Street Anchorage to investigate some fuel being stolen from a dinghy while it was attached to a dock.

Harbor Patrol are investigating suspicious circumstances involving a dead body that was found floating against the rocks of the Laurel Street Anchorage. Harbor Patrol recovered the body and department detectives are still currently investigating. 

08:32 Boating: Vessel taking on water off Mission Bay Channel. MI/RW respond. Vessel towed to Dana and trailered out.

10:22 Other: Blacks Beach call box hang up. Lifeguard units respond. Call box clear.

10:42 Medical: Fall on boardwalk. Lifeguard, emergency and medical respond. Medical to Grossmont.

12:27 Other: Tarp in the water at the weir. Lifeguard boat unit responds. Boat cover recovered.

13:00 Medical: Stingray puncture at Tourmaline call box. Lifeguards respond. Treat and release.

14:39 Cliff/Medical: Unconscious person on trail at Blacks Beach. Multiple lifeguard units, medical respond. Patient walked out by Lifeguards and Advised to seek further medical attention.

17:50 Medical: Unconscious male at San Jose Pl. Lifeguards, medical respond. No aid needed for sleeping man.

August 30

08:35 Other: Citizen reports an oil slick in the water around Bahia Point. Lifeguards check area. Nothing found.

08:37 Boating: Vessel lost in the fog. Turning basin. Lifeguard boat unit responds. Lifeguards assist with navigation.

09:44 Boating: Vessel beached at South Mission Beach. 15 ft. Bayliner. Multiple lifeguard boat and beach units respond. Vessel accident due to contact with a surfboard. Report created and tow boat US performs salvage.

August 29

Harbor Patrol were dispatched to the A-1 Laurel Street Anchorage to investigate a vessel that was broken into and had items stolen.

Harbor Patrol were contacted by a subject in the 5th Avenue Landing requesting a report for a stolen dinghy. It was soon found that his dinghy was recently impounded due to it being found adrift in the area.

08:20 Other: Station A reports reporting person who found a gun in a dumpster at La Jolla Shores. Lifeguards respond and verify it is a toy gun.

12:00 Enforcement: Report of a person with a gun walking along the beach from Windansea to Marine Street. Lifeguards respond. SDPD arrives and releases suspect who was only carrying a BB gun.

12:30 Boating: Vessel accident in turning basin. Lifeguard boat units respond. No injuries, vessel accident report taken.

13:55 Boating: May Day call of sinking a vessel off the sewage treatment plant, Point Loma. Lifeguard boat and Jet Ski units respond. Vessel de-watered by Good Samaritan.

15:47 Medical: U45 reports person down at 1177 Sunset Cliffs Blvd. Medical, emergency respond. No Aid performed.

August 28

Harbor Patrol responded to the area of buoy #22 and the main shipping channel for a subject in the water.  It was found the subject was a windsurfer who did not have enough wind to get back up on his board.  Due to his location, lack of wind and being late in the day, Harbor Patrol transported him back to the dock.

Harbor Patrol contacted a subject near the fishing pier in south Marina Park. They soon found the subject was on probation and in possession of drug paraphernalia and stolen government documents. The subject was taken to County Jail.

11:53 Medical: 17 year-old male, sting ray injury at Tourmaline. Lifeguard on scene. Treat and release.

17:17 Boating: 35 ft. sailing vessel in distress in the turning basin. Lifeguard boat units on scene. No assistance needed.

17:34 Boating: Vessel near rocks, west side of Vacation Island. Lifeguard chase boat on scene. Chase boat handles.
