Monday 13
Start off the jazz week in San Diego with a free, noon-time concert featuring pianist Joshua White and trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos at the Lyceum Theatre (79 Horton Plaza)…. Stephanie Richards + Phantom Station: Conduction for Butch Morris featuring Ivan Trujillo play the Loft @ UCSD (911 Lyman Lane) at 8 p.m. with Architeuthis Walks on Land opening. No cover charge.

Tuesday 14
KSDS Jazz 88 presents Jazz Live from the campus of San Diego City College (14th & B Street) featuring the Dave Pell Octet. Doors open at 7:30, concert starts at 8 p.m. Free to Jazz 88 members, $10 general admission.

Wednesday 15
Fresh Sound presents Endangered Blood with Chris Speed, Jim Black, Trevor Dunn, and Oscar Noriega at Bread & Salt (1955 Julian Avenue) at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 general admission and $10 students…. Gilbert Castellanos has two gigs at Panama 66 (1450 El Prado) beginning at 6 p.m. when he hosts the International Academy of Jazz’s students of Kamau Kenyatta. At 8:30, he heads inside to the Copley Auditorium to lead the Latin Jam session with Irving Flores and Rob Thorsen…. There’s a double-bill happening at the Loft featuring headlining guitarist Matthew Stevens in a trio with Orlando Le Fleming and Eric Doob. Jazz Camp with Michael Hayes, Connor Hughes, Chase Pado, Lexi Pulido, and Jerome Salazar opens the show. $10 general admission.

Friday 17
Bassist Justin Grinnell leads a trio with Melonie Grinnell and Ryan Shaw for the Happy Hour at the Handlery Hotel (950 Hotel Circle North) at 5:30 p.m. No cover, no minimum, validated parking…. Trio de Janeiro with Lori Bell, Tommy Aros and Ron Satterfield play Harbor Music Hall (1502 India Street) from 7:30 to 10:30 for a $10 cover…. Gilbert Castellanos leads a trio with Marshall Hawkins and Joshua White at the Westgate Hotel Plaza Bar (1055 Second Avenue) at 8 p.m. No cover, but there is a $20 food/drink minimum.

Saturday 18
Vocalist Allison Adams Tucker presents the Saturday Spotlight with Hugo Suarez and Matthew Smith at the Westgate Hotel Plaza Bar at 8 p.m. No cover, but there is a $20 food/drink minimum…. The Brad Dutz Quartet with Paul Sherman, Brian Walsh, and Chris Votek play a workshop/concert at the Congregational Church (1216 Cave Street). The clinic takes place at 5:30 p.m. and it costs $35. The concert follows at 7:30 and runs $20…. The San Diego Symphony’s Jazz at the Jacobs Series presents She’s Got That Swing with Regina Carter, Katie Thiroux, Grace Kelly, Dena DeRose, Tina Raymond, and Holly Hofmann. Besos de Coco opens the show. Symphony Hall (750 B Street) at 8 p.m.

Sunday 19
Help bassist Bert Turetzky celebrate his 84th birthday at Dizzy’s (1717 Morena Boulevard) with Nancy Turetzky, Jane Zwermen, Mark Margolies, Lorie Kirkell, and Chuck Perrin. Concert begins at 7 p.m. and will run you $15 at the door.
