Dorado Schmitt & the Django All-Stars with Amati Schmitt, Franko Mehrstein, Ludovic Beier, Pierre Blanchard, and Xavier Nikq play Athenaeum Jazz at TSRI (10620 John Jay Hopkins Drive) at 7:30 p.m. General admission $35, Members $30, Student rush $15.

Wednesday 30
Chaos Magic with Josh Charney, Andrew Munsey, and Kyle Motl play a double bill concert with Andrew Lessman’s Teethers featuring Alexander Noyce and Graham Chapman at the Loft (911 Lyman Lane) at 8 p.m. No cover… Gilbert Castellanos begins his busy night at 6 p.m. when he hosts the Young Lions Series featuring the 11 a.m. class of the International Academy of Jazz featuring Zion Dyson, Wesley Biasi, Brenda Greggio, and Melanie Johnson outside on the patio before heading indoors at 8:30 to lead the jam session in Copley Auditorium with Joshua White and Rob Thorsen.

Thursday 1
Matt Smith leads a trio with Ben Wanicur and Jason Shattil at Harbor Music Hall (1506 India Street) from 8 to 11 p.m. $10… Gary Rich hosts the First Thursday Jam Session at Bourre (6523 University Avenue) with Dean Hulett, Fernando Gomez, and Kathleen Shoemaker from 6:30 to 9:30 No cover…The Mesa College Concert Jazz Band plays Dizzy’s (1717 Morena Boulevard) at 7:30 p.m. $15 cash at the door.

Friday 2
Saxophonist Ian Tordella fronts a trio with Ed Kornhauser and Matthew Smith to play the Happy Hour at the Handlery Hotel (950 Hotel Circle Drive) from 5:30 to 7:30 No cover, validated parking… Vocalist Julia Vari teams with pianist Irving Flores for a gig at Harbor Music Hall from 8 to 11 p.m. $10… Gilbert Castellanos plays the Plaza Bar at the Westgate Hotel (1055 Second Avenue) from 8 to 11, $20 food/drink minimum.

Saturday 3
Vocalist Allison Adams Tucker does Winter Songs with Rob Thorsen and Irving Flores at the Westgate Hotel Plaza Bar from 8 to 11 p.m. $20 food/drink minimum… The Camila Meza Quartet with James Francies, Or Bareket, and Jeremy Dutton play the Athenaeum Art Center at Bread & Salt (1955 Julian Avenue) at 7:30 p.m. $25 general admission $20 members $15 student rush.

The Steph Johnson Holiday Show featuring the Voices of Our City Choir and Rob Thorsen, Curtis Taylor, Tonga Ross-Ma’u, Kamau Kenyatta, Fernando Gomez, and Gregory Moore play Bread & Salt from 6 p.m. VIP Show starts at 7:30 and goes to 9:30. VIP tickets are $45; $15 general admission; students and seniors $8… Guitarist Amy Brandon and bassist Kyle Motl play at Conrad Prebys Recital Hall (9500 Gilman Drive) at 7 p.m. Admission is free… The Justin Grinnell Quartet with Tripp Sprague, Melonie Grinnell, and Richard Sellers on drums play Grossmont College (8800 Grossmont College Drive) Building 26, Room 220 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets run $10 general, $8 seniors, $5 students.
