Uber as designated driver choice backfires
So, I'm, like, walking down the street, minding my own business. Like, I'm doing NOTHING, man! Just walking! All of a sudden, these cops appear out of nowhere and start hitting and kicking me, they're beating on me, I'm crying and begging and they're laughing... oh, but then they realized I was white, so they picked me up and apologized and dusted me off and gave me a get-out-of-jail-free card. Happens all the time, man!— December 6, 2016 1:23 p.m.
Coastkeeper says water board sends wrong message
"Despite the state's ongoing exceptional drought, a recent report shows conservation efforts are easing, particularly along the southern coast." Apartments and houses are being thrown up all over the County. How can thise be if we're in such a severe drought? When you find yourself in a hole, the FIRST thing you to is stop digging.— October 13, 2016 2:14 p.m.
More apartments across Gila Avenue
We're supposed to be in a drought and are told to take all sorts of "water-saving" measures, but building continues unabated?— October 13, 2016 2:12 p.m.
Local Department of Defense contractor ripped for $825,000
LAUT says it was Epsilon Systems Solutions— October 5, 2016 1:22 p.m.
Local Department of Defense contractor ripped for $825,000
Found a Stuart Teshima on LinkedIn who's listed as CFO for Nevwest, a defense contractor. I hate it when someone tries to hide details.— October 5, 2016 12:56 p.m.
Cheetahs strip club faces closure
More hand-wringing nonsense from the pearl-clucthing crowd. There should be no special "licensing" for a girlie club... if someone wants to open one, great. If someone wants to work there, great. If someone wants to go and ogle naked women, great. And if anyone doesn't like it, all they have to do is NOT FREAKING GO THERE, and their problem is solved! Sheesh! Just leave everyone else alone!— October 5, 2016 12:53 p.m.
County supervisors vote against adult pot use
If someone is "free", that must include the freedom to ingest substances that aren't good for them. There is no moral support for the "War on Drugs"... the intention was to go after the effects of drug use, and has failed badly. Legalize it. Tax it. Bring it out into the light. If someone wants to blaze away 24/7, that's their business. If they then want to do something stupid or criminal, there are laws for that. get stoned and drive? Already illegal. Commit burglaries to buy dope? Already illegal. Want to give pot to a kid? Illegal. Stop the hand-wringing. Time for the nattering ninnies to shut up. Don't want to use pot? Don't. But you don't have a right for nobody else to use it because you disapprove.— October 5, 2016 12:50 p.m.
Encanto residents feel snubbed by Civic San Diego
"...featuring 84 affordable-housing units and 44 for-sale units..." So 44 people pay too much to subsidize 84 people who can't actually afford to live here. And we wonder why San Diego gets more and more and more crowded?— October 5, 2016 12:43 p.m.
Y’all are rude
Some people are just to fragile and delicate for the real world. So a few people were "rude", and somehow that paints the entire city, even though many are far more known for rudeness than San Diego. SD has always been one of the most pleasant cities to live in. LA, NYC, San Francisco, Chicago... miserable places, miserable people, miserable behavior. Go live there for a while, then come back here and complain about how awful we are. And if Tijuana is so much better, one wonders who the author doesn't just stay there?— October 5, 2016 12:35 p.m.
7500 Africans and Haitians without money or housing in Tijuana
All we have to do is say, "No." If Mexico wants to support them, great! But I have a feeling that Mexico's definitions of "humanity" and "compassion" aren't the same as what they demand of the US...— October 5, 2016 12:29 p.m.
