One of the comic book bloggers at BleedingCool.com just emailed me to ask "Why wouldn't you let a publisher reprint them [Rock 'N' Roll Comics] in print as well as you publish it digitally? It feels like you're throwing away free money."
My reply, for the record: The Bluewater deal was never about money. The comics reprinted by Bluewater had already made massive profits two decades ago. By reprinting, we got to treat several of the original creators to some unexpected contemporary swag above and beyond their original contracts, as well as reviving awareness of the "brand" thanks to Bluewater footing the bills and doing the promotions.
Now that the Bluewater books and the Story of Rock 'N' Roll Comics documentary film and DVD have gotten Revolutionary Comics some modern day cred and attention, Todd Loren's father and I would rather handle any and all future repurposing of the RevCom material.

Drive-In Theaters in San Diego: Complete Illustrated History 1947 thru 2008 (45 new pics added 7-4-09!)
Switching the photos over to the Reader's own server sometime over the next few weeks! This url will remain active, but will be text-only - the relaunched version will be spread out over several pages, with all the original material and photos, as well as newly researched and updated material, plus around two dozen newly obtained photos. The relaunch will appear on the Big Screen blog this time instead of Rock Around the Town, so that's where to watch for it, probably sometime in June or July --— April 10, 2013 10:10 p.m.

Al Howard's Guilty pleasures

Interview: Robert Forster has risen!
I'd love to ask him about Cover Me Babe (1970), where he played a student filmmaker, who's obsessed with the idea that "reality" might be more interesting than scripted productions. Especially seedy, sordid reality. He's inspired by the Lee Harvey Oswald shooting that was broadcast live on TV. His big idea is, essentially, reality TV! He tells his film teacher about how someday people's real lives will be filmed, and viewers will come to prefer it over anything scripted - very prophetic. The very same stuff that Forster's lead character is hated for screening, those things now win awards and accolades and movie/TV career contracts. The flick -- which turns up from time to time on FMC -- also features a (very) young Sondra Locke— March 27, 2013 6:28 p.m.

Interview with Charles Fleischer, the voice of Roger Rabbit
Ha, with Dave Good's bunny-themed cover feature for this week's new issue, it's wascally wabbit day all the Reader site! Count me among the animation students who rejoiced when Roger first hit cinema screens - my office includes a 4 foot-tall stand up 3D display from its video release, a cardboard fridge with Roger and little birdies in a scene from the film, and Jessica sitting atop the fridge. Hope the BluRay helps boost its inexplicably low profile -— March 20, 2013 8:27 p.m.

100 Worst Album Covers of All Time
I'll have to look into Electric Six, but how interesting to find out more about Little Richard Miller! I've been sitting on that album since the 70s - I really should go thru this list on Google and see what else I can find out about some of these acts!— March 14, 2013 5:44 p.m.
