Gloria's Inglorious Garbage
There is no truth to be found in anything written by "district3resident",who is the same as the fake "Stephen Davis" or "2muchsense"...they're all the same person, an employee of the Todd Gloria campaign. That's how low they've sunk, and how desperate they've become. Phone calls have been pouring in to the Whitburn campaign. They're angry about the blatant lies and deceptions. It will be interesting to see what comes next in this race. Remember, this race is about reform. Do we want to continue the culture of corruption and secret back room deals, or do we want to change San Diego? The choice is clear. A vote for Whitburn is a vote for Change.— October 29, 2008 1:46 p.m.
Goth Marriage and Gloria
How about that Gloria independent expenditure coming back to haunt his campaign, hmmm? Looks like we've got more information coming in, and the "Assistant Treasurer" to this bogus group is the proud recipient of the FPPC's largest fine ever for hiding campaign contributions. "Sutton solidified his reputation as the dark prince of San Francisco elections, a hired gun who helps downtown interests and well-funded campaigns continue to dominate the electoral field even after voters passed reforms that restricted campaign giving and spending and required more official disclosure." http://www.sfbg.com/38/19/news_sutton.html You shall be known by the company you keep, and it looks like Gloria's gotten into bed with ghouls... Sutton even has San Diego interests. He wants to INCREASE corruption in this town: "Most recently Sutton testified before the San Diego Ethics Commission at a Jan. 21 hearing on a proposal to strengthen local campaign finance law. Sutton argued the commission should repeal the local law and replace it with the state's version, which happens to be weaker." Wow! Gloria supporters want to weaken campaign finance laws so the insider developers can give even more money under the table. Keep tuned, this is turning into a major story...— October 29, 2008 11:26 a.m.
Goth Marriage and Gloria
After decades of being a openly practicing heterosexual, I have no regrets and resolutely refuse to apologize for being honest about my sexual identity. Yes, I've considered becoming Lesbian as an alternative, but since that would still involve being attracted to women, I figured it's just not worth all the extra effort. Further, I don't coordinate my wardrobe, hang my close up neatly in the closet, or cover my mouth when I burp. So, no, I suppose I'm not "queeny" either. Thanks for asking. Enough about my personal life.— October 29, 2008 11:26 a.m.
Trash Talking: Allied Seeks to Expand Sycamore Landfill
Comment #19 is copy/pasted from: http://www.sandiegoreader.com/weblogs/abnormal-he… Comment #20 is yet another fake alias from the poster also known as "Stephen Davis from South Park", "District3Resident", 2MuchSense", and now "kensington". Reader readers, make up your own minds. Best, Fred Williams— October 29, 2008 9:32 a.m.
Goth Marriage and Gloria
Thank you "Stephen_Not_My_Real_Name_Davis" aka "Not3DistrictResident" or "Not2MuchSense"...whoever you are today... You're clearly upset. Maybe you should take a time out until you get yourself under control again. Gloria takes money from indicted union bosses (Saathoff), disgraced city managers (McGrory), anti-gay bigots (Manchester), rapacious developers (Sudberry, McMillan, Baldwin), greedy downtown insiders (Maas, McKinny, LeSar, Graham), and secretive defense contractors who want to build a military HQ downtown (Epsilon Systems). Stephen Whitburn has the endorsement of Donna Frye and the Democratic Party because they trust his judgment and integrity. Nowhere will you find anyone claiming Gloria has any integrity. Quite the opposite, they chatter about how charming he is. Stephen Whitburn doesn't engage in the name calling that marks out Gloria's campaign. It's enough to calmly state the facts, and point to what's best for the future of San Diego.— October 29, 2008 9:20 a.m.
Gloria' People Tearing Down All Whitburn's Signs
Tearing down signs is childish. Tearing down signs that little kids make is just ugly and vindictive. It shows the level of Gloria's supporters, frightened at the prospect that they won't get their way anymore and throwing a tantrum. One week to go...then we'll have Stephen Whitburn providing some adult leadership in District 3.— October 29, 2008 8:50 a.m.
Gloria' People Tearing Down All Whitburn's Signs
Another day, another fake post from fake Stephen_"Todd Gloria"_Davis not from South Park. This election IS about issues. Who will dominate the City Council? Reformers or insiders? Stephen Whitburn is a reformer. Gloria is an insider who just got the benefit of another $11,000 in independent expenditures from developers, bankers, and Republican fat-cats who want to keep our city's culture of corruption. I'm proud to live in Normal Heights and even provide my picture on my blog to show my identity. I use my real name, and never hide behind an alias like these professional political prostitutes who will do or say anything to win an election. If you want to change San Diego, vote for Stephen Whitburn.— October 29, 2008 8:40 a.m.
Trash Talking: Allied Seeks to Expand Sycamore Landfill
I've got state disclosure forms 400, 401, and 498 dated 17-24 Oct. 08 "San Diego Voter Education Project" --> Eugene P. Heytow of Rancho Santa Fe: $5,000 --> Robert Lehman of San Diego: $5,000 Paola Avila of San Diego is the only person listed under "Individuals Who Authorize Contents of Slate Mailers". Paola Avila is also the Treasurer. James Sutton of San Francisco is the "Assistant Treasurer". They both share a 415 phone number and what appear to be business addresses. (Should I post the number here, Admin?) The mailer in question also has a list of ballot recommendations, for which wealthy developer Thomas Sudberry Jr, again using a business address, tossed in another thousand dollars supporting C, and opposing B. I'll have a look around the internets and write about the results over at Abnormal Heights. Post anything you find, please. Let's make this a group effort! Best, Fred— October 29, 2008 6:59 a.m.
Mission Valley Village
The story of Mission Valley Village deserves to be told far and wide in San Diego. What the developers and city have done to these good people is a disgrace. Under the guise of redevelopment Jim Madaffer and his cronies have conspired to evict the seniors from their homes so a multi-billion dollar conglomerate can build yet more condos. Nobody has lifted a finger to stop this travesty. The mayor came to whisper soothing noises at a "no media allowed" meeting with Village residents, but when it came time to do something at the city council did nothing. Turns out the developer gave money to our Mayor's campaign. So much for the seniors. The injustice of destroying affordable housing in the name of "affordable housing" and "mixed-use development" would be ironic if it weren't so tragic. In their rush to bulldoze these people out of their homes, the greed obsessed developers will tell any lie and pay any politician off just to cram a few more dollars in their pockets. We must change San Diego. Marti Emerald would represent these home owners on a new city council and she would fight to rescind the dirty deals done in secret. That's why you see Emerald signs around Mission Valley Village today. For District 7 residents who care about basic fairness, there's no better candidate than Marti Emerald. Please vote for her. The residents of Mission Valley Village don't have the money for a high priced law suit, so they need an advocate on the City Council. A vote for Emerald is a vote for change, and a vote for justice for the residents of our neighbors in Mission Valley Village. Best, Fred Williams http://www.sandiegoreader.com/weblogs/abnormal-he…— October 28, 2008 7:28 a.m.
Is San Diego Back to Old Tricks of Publishing False Financial Information?
Most observers are predicting a long and painful recession with no recovery until sometime late in 2009 at the earliest. Assets of all flavors, from stocks to real estate to hedge funds are down and look to remain depressed for the foreseeable future. So we ought to begin assuming that the city's unfunded liabilities are going to be growing while our revenues continue shrinking. Any false sense of security that comes from fudging the numbers is only going to make the pain worse in the future. In the year 2008 are the city money managers really incapable of calculating the value of city assets? Surely not. I suspect they have something called computers that are connected to that newfangled internet thing that allows everyone else on the planet to track their assets in real-time. It's time for the city to stop hiding our financial information and start providing details as a matter of course. We shouldn't have to sue to get the facts. The city should be telling us the whole truth in the first place. The only way to change this is to change the City Council. Vote for Change in San Diego by rejecting the insider status-quo candidates, like Gloria or Boling. Stephen Whitburn and Marti Emerald are going to open up the books. Only when we have an honest city council that's working for the voters will San Diego begin the reform process we need so urgently.— October 28, 2008 7:16 a.m.
