i enjoy making breakfast

for myself and others

confidence evident

this morning

while friends sleeping

about the house

effects of last nights wine

begin to prepare

with my special potatoes

its a big kitchen

with lots of windows

and a large sturdy table

can't get much better

than this

light streaming through

music playing

house of the rising sun

quiet as a kitten

wearing my favorite

flannel shirt

blackwatch tartan

holding its own

her white skin

ringlet curls

into blue

penetrating eyes

slightly upturned

as she closes in

not really sure

if her feet are touching

the floor

smell of joy

heaven scent

ruby reds

a place on my neck

as house of the rising sun

plays on

breakfast is going to have to wait

til lunch

I used to love flannel shirts when i was a teenager, now, I rarely wear them, even though i have about seven in my closet. go figure. Go, nan, you nostril flaring, toe curling girl, you.

nan shartel Jan. 14, 2012 @ 6:47 p.m.

hey they're popular again this year Quill so dust them off and wear them!

richzombie Jan. 15, 2012 @ 8:50 a.m.

i also wore flannel shirts back in my high school days becuase i lived in new hampshire it usually was one of many layers of clothing - then went without a flannel shirt in my closet for many years - but just a few years ago i bought some for my daughters at a thrift shop and while looking also bought a few for myself and i love them ...wearing one right now in fact .

richzombie Jan. 16, 2012 @ 8:19 a.m.

richzombie Jan. 16, 2012 @ 4:15 p.m.

oh oops - i guess my recollection is -mostly-from catholic schools ...

Ruth Newell Jan. 16, 2012 @ 10:26 p.m.

Mine too and I still rock the skirt. Just not so much the Catholic part. So I attribute my attraction to plaid on heritage. Or sumfin.
