Club Purple is celebrating five years of transborder boogie with a birthday bash at Moustache Bar (Sexta & Madero – Zona Centro, TJ) on Saturday, September 28.
Over the years, Club Purple has shaken ass with some of the best in underground dance music at venues on either side of the wall including Radio Room, The Flame, La Mezcalera, Bodega Aragon, and about a zillion others.
“The air of the [Tijuana] nightlife is more mature and obscure now,” Club Purple promoter Miss Lady D told The Reader in 2011.
“The feel you get when you’re here can be a little European, and that can be very refreshing and exciting for many Americans.”
Indeed it is.
See what it’s all about on Saturday, when Phoenix-via-Nashville bass bumper Myrryrs sauces up the dance floor along with Sweet Cheeks jelly jiggler Mawkus and Miss Lady D.

Mawkus expounds:
“Currently running with LA's Body High record label and crew headed by Samo Sound Boy and Jerome LOL, Myrryrs aka Justin Hobbs has been prolific, previously releasing music for the last several years with B.YRSELF and Discobelle. He just went on a big tour in support of his debut EP on Body High, Southside Horror, released back in May. Lots of basscentric warehouse vibes and basscentric samples on this record that feel like you went to a grimey rave in 1994 playing future music. Vice noted that he has an affinity for spicy food and asked him to couple each song on his new EP with a recipe of his."
Entrada libre.
