Do you have a go-to playlist? A go to playlist is a list of music that gets you through the current mess you’ve created in your life. I have one and it has bailed me out more times than I care to admit.
I don’t have any particular criteria for adding something to my go-to list but it has grown and fluctuated over the years. I think the one thing the pieces on my list have in common is trust.
Perhaps trust is my criteria. I add pieces of music that I trust to have come from a sincere and understanding place in the composer’s or the performer’s experience.
Some of the music is melancholy, some is triumphant, one is Eminem (!). The mood of the music isn’t important to me. What is important to me is finding a small place I can trust in order to gain some perspective.
