Lickona finally in on the joke

http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/apr/09/43503/

How many times in this space have I made veiled, and not-so veiled references to Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis' legendary blooper reel captured while the duo was recording promos for their latest and funniest picture for Paramount, The Caddy?

Not more than two weeks ago I basically rewrote the script (from memory) to fit a piece about the Tribeca Film Festival's closing night presentation of The King of Comedy.

Were it not for this piece on Kermit 'Mr. Blooper' Schaefer, it might have been years before Matthew Lickona discovered that The Caddy is a religious picture.

Over Sunday dinner, Mr. L and I began swapping favorite bloopers. When the subject turned to 90 minutes of howls, gags, fun, and more heart-warming entertainment than you and the family have ever seen, my blog mate drew a blank.

I ain't up! Could it be that Matthew has yet to have been deflowered by The Caddy's big...oh, you get it. Were there not children in the room I would have recited it chapter and verse on the spot.

I first learned of the infamous outtakes in my early 20's when a friend presented me with a vinyl copy. That LP now resides in the Colonna Collection.

Here you go, my friend. Who knows? Maybe one day we can do a duet on it, ya' greazeball.
