Economic Woes

I saw this as a quote to end a MahJongg game:

"If you can't learn to do it well, learn to enjoy doing it badly"

I suppose that's fine if you are not driving, working as a cashier, giving anesthesia, doing surgery, etc. If you abide by the above policy, it may be best to stay home!!!!!

Anybody watch the NBC 7/39 news at 11 PM?? Jim Laslavic had on a plaid suit, not a good look for him. His shirt was pale blue & he finished it off with a dark tie spotted with white/gray triangles. Of course I love being a fashion critic as I am always up to date with jeans & T shirts!!!! I always say my wardrobe consists of purple and Padres. Pretty fashionable, huh ??

It appears that restaurants are being hurt by the current economy. There are special 3 course meals at several Cohn restaurants at a price of $20.10 per person. To take advantage of this deal, make your reservations, & have dinner, it ends on Friday, 01/08/10. Many local (Gaslamp/Downtown) places are doing the 3 course price fixe dinners. For a good list of restaurants, check out this site:

Have you noticed the closings: Napa Valley Grill, Panda Inn, Dakota, LaVache, etc. Have you noticed the "emptiness" at Horton Plaza. Places open & close in a matter of months. It's the economy and it is a big problem, with major budget issues in San Diego and the State of California (pronounce it like the Gov.!!)

I hope our City leaders had a great Holiday and have some ideas about the location for the Homeless shelter. We also need a new law on noise abatement. So, get to work!!!!

I am finally freed of the cookies & stuff. I definitely went overboard this year, which caused me to just have too much stuff. I did fix a large platter of goodies for Rachel's Womens Shelter, for their Christmas party. Took down the tree and now need to get the other decorations packed up and back to storage.

If you have not been to the V2 nail salon, you should give it a try. They are on the north side of F St., between 9th & 10th. I actually keep polish on my nails which is a new trend for me. The pedicures are wonderful. You definitely feel pampered & relaxed. There is one procedure I only like when it is over---leg waxing. OUCH OUCH OUCH So, call for an appointment (619-255-8442) Check out the website:

I think this is the first year I did not send Christmas cards, not even e-cards. I must have been baking instead. So, for all who anticipated receiving something, HAPPY HOLIDAYS. There, now I feel better!

I am working on learning how to use the Paint Shop Pro Photo 2. There are so many possibilities and fixing photos is pretty easy. No more red eyes. I jumped ahead to print and apparently missed something because an 8 x 10 photo printed as a very small picture in one corner of the paper! When all else fails, read the instructions. Maybe later.
