Melody F# (Sharp) was born September 18, 1982 in Inglewood Ca as Candace Bowman (Newman). At the age of 3, she began vocal training with her father. At the age of 6 she had her first live band performance at church alongside her father. Between the ages of 10 and 17, she discovered her talent for writing poetry and converted it to lyrics for songs, thus adopting the name Melody. Her first recording experience was in 1998, when she participated in the recording for the soundtrack for, "Prince of Egypt". She began recording her own records with a well known underground group called, "The MizFitz",in Los Angeles, Ca. With this group she learned recording and vocal arranging technique and gained experience rearranging songs for local plays. After nurturing her vocal abilities, the MizFitz also gave Melody the name F# (Sharp). Between 1999 to 2006, she participated in various performances, not limited to The Coliseum, (Los Angeles, Ca), The Shrine (Los Angeles, Ca), Great Western Forum (Inglewood, Ca), House of Blues (Hollywood, CA & Las Vegas, NV), BeBe King Club (Universal City Walk, Los Angeles). Intermingled with her music, she continued her education in music at Cal State Northridge (Northridge, Ca) in the Music Department developing different skills in Opera, Jazz, harmonic melodies and intertwining notes giving the effect of 5 to 6 part harmonies. She continued to develop these skills to create her own sounds and harmonies. With slight hints of jazz, soul, opera and gospel, Melody has developed a unique sound like no other.
