Rick Roberts goes on anti-Islam rant
Islam isn't the problem. The problem is importing people into this country who don't want to assimilate. Europe has been taught this lesson for years now, and maybe they'll start to learn... when you import people who do not want to be French or Belgian or German or American, who want to retain their own language and culture and laws, and who hate their host country and say they want to change or destroy it... what do you think is going to happen? That has NOTHING to do with race or religion. If a bunch of blond, blue-eyed Christians wanted to destroy America, I'd say they should be rejected too!— November 24, 2015 8:53 a.m.
San Diego’s billion-dollar BioWatch terrorism bust
SDI gave as many advances in aerospace and other technology, and had the side benefit of bankrupting the USSR. I'm far more concerned about the TRILLION+ dollars spent in the "War on Poverty" that left us with more poverty than ever.— November 24, 2015 8:45 a.m.

Chula Vista fetes Seven Mile Casino as FBI investigates it

Cop on cop ruination
Gee, I wonder why this keeps happening? Could it be that individuals do bad deeds, and instead of being fired their "punishment" is for the taxpayers to write a check? Public agencies should be 100% immune from civil torts. Period. There is no valid argument against this. Either individuals should be identified and held personally accountable, or you're in favor of sheltering and protecting wrongdoers at the taxpayer's expense. There is no middle ground. Yes, this probably means that some victims who "deserve" millions won't get it, but life's tough like that. The taxpayer should NEVER be on the hook for the bad acts of individuals.— November 22, 2015 10:49 a.m.
Lame jobs, though
No employers is "making profits off of low wage low benefit workers". That implies that a job is "worth" a certain amount, and the employers is just paying less, and everyone goes along because... why? The fact is, an awful lot of jobs simply are not worth a lot of money. And when you have a huge unskilled uneducated labor force, there's a lot of competition for the jobs they can do, and that pushes wages down. That isn't by some nefarious design, it's supply and demand. On the other side of that coin, there are a lot of jobs that requires skills and education, but many people simply are not prepared or qualified to take them. That's where the H1-Bs come in. I know a lot of people believe that companies are getting rid of "fairly-paid" Americans and replacing them with slave-wage Indians, but that simply isn't the case... when was the last time a government program provided ANYTHING that was a better deal than a free market? The fact is, a lot of Americans have an entitlement mentality and believe they belong at the top of the wage scale without actually showing the results to earn that. A lot of Americans are spoiled, OVERPAID, and are looking to do the minimum necessary. Meanwhile, the imported workers are largely wiling to do what needs to be done, and aren't bolting for the door at 4 o'clock. I see job openings very literally ALL THE FREAKING TIME that pay well and have great benefits, but sit unfilled because we very literally cannot find someone who's qualified, who hasn't made themselves ineligible with bad decisions, and who shows up for an interview properly prepared. I've reviewed hundreds of resumes and conducted dozens of interviews to fill less than a handful of spots, and some of our hires have been "compromises" or speculative.— November 21, 2015 10:20 a.m.
Lake Murray rebel has a short run
We need CCW issuance reform. It's great that this piece of crap limited himself to screaming and shoving, but when if he'd pulled a knife or other weapon and started killing? Why should the rest of us have to wait 15 minutes for police to show up? Long past time for California to get with the program almost all of the rest of the country is on. Anyone who doesn't like guns is free to not have one or carry one.— November 19, 2015 7:19 a.m.
Big Brother — no Holding Company — for O.B.
In the long run, we're going to be worse off with cameras. We are slowly but inexorably turning into a police state. Great Britain is well ahead of us... not only do they have cameras nearly everywhere now, but with every expansion of government power comes increased capabilities, and therefore a call for more money and power to further exploit those capabilities. I don't really want to see where we're going to be in 50 years.— November 19, 2015 7:15 a.m.
