Ninety percent of their water comes from either the Sierra Nevadas or the Colorado River. What ground water the do use comes from a different source that the one in Orange County. shirleyberan, Have you ever been to Orange County? If so, then you're drinking water that contains purified wastewater. Since about 2008 Orange County has been using a system that replenishes the groundwater basin with 70 million gallons of treated effluent every day. Want something closer to home? Ever heard of the Water Purification Demonstration Project? It was the fore runner to the pure water program. For about 4 yrs, every day about a million gallons of treated waste water was pumped into the San Vicente Reservoir which goes into a standard drinking water treatment plant. Rams most likely to go to L.A.
imjustabill you have your opinion and I have a differing opinion. Nevertheless, when the NFL relocates a team to London, eight teams will make the trip to play in the regular season. I believe that next months game is already sold out, which means every game played at Wembley has been a sellout. In addition, at least thru the game played earlier in the year, each game has also had over $1 million in NFL merchandise sales on site game day. Look for 5 regular season games next year. That means a total of 10 teams making the trip, more than would in a normal full regular season schedule. Barring some as yet unseen logistical issues with that many teams making the trip, I would expect that if next years games are even close to as successful as have been the preceding games, the league will begin scheduling a full slate of 8 regular season games within a couple of more years. A sort of trial run at a full season, if you will. Remember, when Roger Goodell says the NFL want's to go to London, he's speaking for the owners, the ones who control the purse strings.— October 26, 2014 9:02 a.m.

Don Bauder, perhaps sardonic would be a better word. I am not in love with sporting events. Rather than arranging to be able to watch every NFL game as well as other sporting events, because I have the means to, I have "arranged" to be able to watch ONLY ones I want, instead of just the ones someone else says I can watch, and watch them at my convenience, from the comfort of my home. No different than someone who subscribes to a pay movie channel. They don't watch every movie that's on, but instead are able to the ones the want at their convenience. Bagging on the NFL when all the while you are watching the games on TV is not hypocrisy. Hypocrisy is a lingerie shop without a front window.— October 25, 2014 1:20 a.m.

In that case, my apologies and thank you. But I must confess that while I am fairly knowledgeable on sports and on “other matters, too” as you put it, not really amazingly so. There are a few things that I would like to think I know a lot about, but generally speaking, I prefer to think that there are just a lot of thing that I know a little about, maybe just enough to be dangerous, as they say. It’s rather that I have a very, very good memory and am extremely good at researching subjects that interest me and thus remembering most of what I research. I guess having pretty good common sense and reasoning skills, both deductive and inductive, doesn’t hurt. Sometimes it’s certainty that’s required and sometimes probability will suffice. The trick is knowing which one and when. Throw in a little Occam's razor and voila. I am cognizant of the difference between an anti-Israel stance and anti-Semitism. That’s why I mentioned the two incidents in Paris. As I said in my comment, what I said was based on what I have read and seen on TV recently. In the last week or two, I have seen a couple of reports of Muslim immigrants in Germany not only protesting with signs condemning what’s been happening in Gaza, but also carrying signs with such things as “Hamas, Hamas, Jews into the gas”. One of the German Jewish leaders said this summer he saw the worst anti-Semitic slogans on German streets for many, many decades. Angela Merkel said she heard of young Jewish parents asking whether they can safely raise their children in Germany and older people asking whether it was right to stay. According to an article I read a few weeks ago, NYT I think it was, this summer, attacks on synagogues were an almost weekly occurrence, and openly anti-Semitic chants are commonplace from London to Rome, not just in Germany. This same article said, as have many others I’ve read, that much of the anti-Jewish animus originates with European people of Muslim background. Perhaps they are the ones confusing an anti-Israel stance with anti-Semitism.— October 25, 2014 1:18 a.m.

don bauder, "You are obviously a scholar." Boy the sarcasm is starting to get deep. I’d best put my waders on. On my dad's side of the family, my heritage is Irish/English(grandfather) and French/Belgian(grandmother. On my mom's side my heritage is Swedish. That should pretty much give you my "take" on Nazi Germany. From what I've read and seen, much of the anti-Semitism in Germany currently is in the form of anti-Israel protests, recently in the form of two incidents in Paris following an anti-Israel protest, in which demonstrators tried to invade two synagogues where Jews were meeting.. It seems as if the main major deterrent of anti-Semitism for decades — shame about the Holocaust, appears to be fading as each new generation comes along. Some Germans have demonstrated against Israel and for the Palestinians, but with what seems to be the burgeoning extremism in German Muslim communities, anti-Semitism is now seems more connected to Muslims than neo-Nazis, and Jews are feeling increasingly threatened by what they see. Anti-Israel protests have been spread across Europe this summer, not just in Germany. We didn’t go to Germany when my wife and I took our last trip to Europe, with our daughter, in 2004, but we were there in 2002. I don’t remember seeing any signs of anti-Semitism— October 24, 2014 12:05 p.m.

Actually, I couldn't care less either way about a team based in London. I just happen to find all of these "excuses" that people have quite humorous. At this point, the team most likely to move there would seem to be Jacksonville. Of the teams that I follow, only Dallas plays a road game with them this year meaning I would entertain watching only one game from London. It took about 7 hours for Atlanta and a little more than 8 for Detroit to get there with each taking the redeye. Atlanta left Sunday night and Detroit left Monday night. That should be more than enough time to acclimate and both coaches said that they will keep there routines the same from Wednesday on. According to what I have read, both this year and years past, the logistics are planned out in the spring. The only thing different about this game is the start time. I believe the games are normal a 5pm London start.— October 24, 2014 10:38 a.m.
