Is San Diego a haven for Homeless?

I have a tip for you Burwell, since you have such a big heart and are so concerned about the welfare of the homeless. Go to the Dollar Store. Get yourself a box of 1-qt. freezer bags. Then, get some kind of little breakfast bars, cheese and crackers, and some of those little chicken/tuna salad kits. Make sure to pick up some bottled water, too. Then, when you get home, take the food items you bought and put them in the quart-size freezer bags. Then, get yourself some pieces of paper or little cards, and write the names and phone numbers of all the charitable organizations in San Diego (if you're really in San Diego at all, that is), and put those in the bags with the food. Or, you could just print out a copy of this Wiki page for each bag: http://sandiegowiki.discoversd.com/wiki/San_Diego… Then, keep a bag and a bottle of water in your glove compartment at all times. When you see one of these folks standing on the corner, you can hand off the bag like passing a football, without even stopping. A few days ago, I saw one of these guys near where I live. I was on my way to class. Actually sat right beside him on my bike, while I waited for a crosswalk signal. He didn't ask me for anything. He was focused on the cars. Today, he was about 7 miles up the road, at an entrance to a shopping center near where I work. And today, he was lucky. I was in my car. So today, he got a bag containing a 3-piece chicken dinner, along with the freezer bag of snacks, phone numbers, and a bottle of water. Oh, and a couple of bucks to make sure they have some money for phone calls. I hide that in there, too. The only reason I mention this is that I know that it will warm your heart, Burwell! Doesn't that make you HAPPPPEEEEEEE??? I just knew it would. :) Nazi putz.

Bonus Blog: Second Grade Mom

Cuddle, about a dozen years ago I took a course in Children's Lit. The text for that book is on the shelf to my left. http://cgi.ebay.com/Riverside-Anthology-of-Childr… I though it had been out of print since around 1984, but I guess there must have been more recent printings. Apparently there are new ones available, although pricey. The used ones are going for $30-$40. It's a fantastic book. I think every library should have one.

Bonus Blog: Second Grade Mom

Got love that Harry Potter. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FnpudxZChs (If you have no idea what these two are doing and need the 2-year-old backstory): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpocrqvP2Yg Aaaaand, just because this stupid song can be as addictive as crack and some of you may have absolutely nothing better to do, here are a bunch more interpretations of it, none of which have anything to do with Harry Potter. They're all pretty good, though. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfw_-F6GR9s&featur… I LOVE this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLT3knJ1Z60&featur… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6nVcDkXNY8&featur… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2Vfsk1TFFA&featur… If JawKnee can't make you smile, there's something wrong with you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNK2L8-V5dQ&featur… And finally, back to Harry Potter. (Um, like, Language Warning.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-9newmQSqg&NR=1&f… :)
