James Cameron Hollywood In Court Today
Pretty good plea deal, no jail time just rehab, for all those charged. In addition if the priors were felony cases he really got a gift. Is he flipping the bird at the photographer, or is he just scatrching his head????— August 20, 2012 7:24 p.m.

Inmates killed, injured on freeway cleanup duty
**This is the objective of prisoners doing free labor. As they are not insured. No waivers. No contracts. No liability. No matter what the dangers in the located environment/s be.** viewer, get real, the labor is not free-they get .50 cents an hour (last time I checked), and yes there is a contract with the prisoners, it is called the US Constitution and the law is very clear on these issues. The state can certainly be held liable for dangerous conditions, have you not been following the CA Prison take over by the federal courts here in CA over medical care??? It has been going on for 11 years now, and has caused all sorts of problems, most self imposed by making everything under the sun a 10 year offense. **As there be financial loss. When one needs replacement, just get another one. Just like replacing a product.** not even worth responding to.— August 19, 2012 5:23 p.m.

Not really trying to be funny, just pointing out the obvious. Depends on the circumstances-which they do not give here. If the state was allowing the work in a grossly negligent and dangerous manner then they could be held liable, if a driver had a medical problem and hit them then there is less of a chance of the state getting a judgement against them, but even then it will depend upon the circumstances. I don't know....... but I would bet my lost dollar there will be a lawsuit-how much and will it fly are other issues.— August 19, 2012 5:19 p.m.
Nephew To Former Sweetwater Superintendent Pleads Guilty
In felony cases in federal court only 3% go to trial. So a plea is pretty much what will happen. As for time off for good behavior- they only give 15% in federal cases. So if you get 10 years you're doing the entire sentence minus 15% = 8.5 years. You know the exact day you will be released. If the case is weak it could go to trial, but that is very unlikely according to the stats.— August 18, 2012 11:17 p.m.

Judge Orders Persistent Shoplifter Held
Shoplifting charges can be felony if it ia grand theft-the limit was anything over $400 was GT-don't know what he limit is today. Shoplifting with priors can also be elevated to a felony, those are called "wobblers" b/c they can be charged as either misdemeanors or felonies... Winona Ryder was charged with felony shoplifting and NOT allowed to plea bargain to a lessor charge b/c she was a name, a celeb, anyone else and it would have been a misdemeanor plea deal with probation and fine. Same thing happened to paris Hilton, she was not allowed to leave jail early b/c she was a celeb. She did like a month when the average time in LA County is only 2%-10% of actual sentence.— August 18, 2012 3:02 p.m.
