Government's secret slaughter of animals exposed
Wildlife Services was supposed to be for public safety but it has morphed into an agency doing the dirty work for private agri/aqua-culture.— May 5, 2016 4:26 p.m.
Location is not the problem
There's also Joe's Crab Shack.— May 4, 2016 3:32 p.m.
Junior Seau's doctor-buddy could lose license
I have had a couple of experiences with these so-called "boards." They are hostile to complaints. They do not follow up. They blame the victim. They take the side of their members and become defensive about your complaint. They are a "membership" like the Bar Association, and they protect their members, first and foremost.— May 3, 2016 11 p.m.
San Diego's welfare plan for hotel owners
Thank you again for joining the conversation. The problem I have, and I think most people do here in San Diego, is trust. Over the years various city leaders make honestly bad decisions as well as the people behind the scenes throwing one dishonest scheme after another at us. When citizens who will fight for the people, like Attorney Mike Aguirre get in office, the downtown establishment run them out. The city leaders squander the social trust and social capital of the community. Made even worse during the period a significant local developer owned the major daily news, we can't tell who is telling the truth and who is on the peoples side.— May 3, 2016 4:47 p.m.

Streetscaped out of La Mesa Village
There are a few places I go in that village. A guy that sharpens knives and scissors, a couple of book stores and my dentist. Otherwise I find that I avoid the area because of the insane traffic, poorly timed traffic lights and metered parking. There is also crime around the trolley stations in the village and off of Fletcher Pkwy.— May 3, 2016 4:28 p.m.
Botanical Garden — heck, Balboa Park itself— in desperate need
For decades there was "Christmas on the Prado." I little bird told me that changed with the change of management at the Prado restaurant and leadership from Qualcomm pushing for a change in name. Look into the timing. And if anyone can find the real reason in writing, please publish it. This is what happens when a public resource, a treasure, is allowed to be taken over by a few elites with money. Where is Balboa Park lover Irwin Jacobs when the best feature of Balboa Park needs a few Woodrow Wilson's for a rehab?— May 1, 2016 7:37 p.m.
San Diego's welfare plan for hotel owners
Mr. Briggs, I can be sarcastic at times. I do want to thank you for taking the time to share your position and information on this Reader story. It is much appreciated when the people behind the scenes come forward and speak directly to us. So, I respect your participation. Thank you.— May 1, 2016 7:29 p.m.
San Diego's welfare plan for hotel owners
I agree.— May 1, 2016 7:25 p.m.
San Diego's welfare plan for hotel owners
Mr. Briggs, how about "NO" initiative? Why not an initiative that addresses the backlog of infrastructure? Because this is not sexy and the lawyers can't make money on something that is obviously a service the city should be doing as part of its job. We don't want a stadium Mr. Briggs, and the voters are going to shout it in your ears in November. And we are going to ship you to Alaska... so dress warm.— April 30, 2016 9:46 p.m.
