Chula Vista attorney goes after movie pirates
Beginning on July 7th, 2016 and as late as September 12, 2016 this lawyer has filed 27 complaints in over a dozen court jurisdictions with a similar complaint about copying the movie "Cell." Do they think they can earn more from lawsuits than the movie itself? One thing about the bit torrent crowd, I doubt many off them have deep pockets. This must be an unsophisticated syndicate of investors to allow a legal chase of so many "defendants" because I can see the lawyer is the only one who is going to cash in on this. By the way, the judge assigned to this case in San Diego is the one that is also hearing the Trump University class-action.— September 19, 2016 10:22 a.m.
Beach Boys, burgers, and the good life
"Maybe that’s why, when the 2008 recession hit, many local restaurants started adding hamburgers to the menu." Actually, that was symbolic that the middle class could no longer afford steak for dinner.— September 18, 2016 12:32 p.m.
San Diego's $2.27 billion pension hole
Fiesta Island has better uses than an ugly stadium in the middle of Mission Bay. And the city leaders always stumble over themselves to grant the ACE Parking mafia an exclusive contract.— September 18, 2016 12:30 p.m.
Muslim woman sues prison guards for discrimination
If she doesn't like it here, deport her.— September 18, 2016 10:39 a.m.
Padres brass tarnished
"After Rams fail miserably in opener, can we return them to St. Louis?" That was a recent story title in the L.A. Times (By Bill Plaschke 9/12/18)— September 16, 2016 6:25 p.m.
Mira Mesa braces for mega population growth
I have lived here all my life. I am dismayed at all the development with a lack of corresponding infrastructure improvements and parks. If people need social justice let them return to Boston, Chicago, New York or what other place they came from. Need cheap housing, go where it's cheap. Cleveland, Detroit. San Diego has ALWAYS been expensive and building more and more residences in this desert is only making the livability worse. More traffic, more smog, and more people using the same parks we had 50 years ago. So kudos to the Reader. They are speaking my sentiments.— September 16, 2016 6:19 p.m.
Padres brass tarnished
How is Forbes able to valuate the Chargers? With no books available, isn't just a guess. To me, the value of the team is what someone else is willing to pay. Other than intrinsic value by the limit of franchises and the growth of the NFL market, how do you estimate a franchise value?— September 16, 2016 12:07 p.m.
Beloved Egg Nazi
I understand critical thinking, but your suggestion I was using a straw man fallacy illustrates you do not have a clear grasp on critical thinking skills. I was not attempting to use, nor did I inadvertently employ, a straw man fallacy. I wasn't trying to argue. I just feel your negative remarks about Mr. Bedford's review were out of line. He did not mean any harm. I would suspect he shared his story with the subject and they must have not objected to the title either.— September 13, 2016 8:33 p.m.
Beloved Egg Nazi
OK, Ian... you don't like the word NAZI, or seeing NAZI in any contemporary print or digital media. Sorry the word NAZI got your panties in a bunch, but you are too far removed from the holocaust to present such a dramatic display in this forum. Let it go. NAZI is not going away. We have to remember it.— September 10, 2016 11:09 p.m.
Del Mar train-track crossers being ticketed
I lived in Del Mar for many years. One thing that always bothered me was their excessive parking tickets. Sometimes I would need to use the post office to do something and they were very slow, they could take longer than the "15 minute" parking limit. I'd have to fight tickets because I was in the pokey post office too long. They still give tickets out 7 days a week and on holidays. It's like an industry there. You see the lady with her straw hat getting paid to walk around in circles all day writing tickets. Now the Del Martians are angry about *being ticketed*. Poetic justice. One thing I never learned was why the Del Mar train station (across from the Powerhouse) was removed? Anyone know why?— September 9, 2016 7:31 p.m.
