Ya know it’s amazing. As I read the comments of people saying “the workmen should have erected a barrier”. It’s amazing how some people manage to get through life. If you seriously have to have a barrier up to tell you NOT to fall in a manhole, you are an IDIOT. Stolen from the article on wired.com Omg Jill. idk where i am now. it’s 2 dark 2 C. I thk I fell Stolen from the article on wired.com The second one was HILARIOUS. Ok. I just had to google this one. Seems she didn't die(pity). Also seems the NYDEP was a bit at fault as well. They are both at fault. Her more than them ONLY because,if you're not paying attention while you're walking at 15 years of age,it's completely futile to think that life isn't going to get instant karma in one way or another. Bottom line? The city's at fault but she's just an idiot and the parents are just looking for a quick buck instead of teaching Miss Attentive that there are consequences for your actions. I'm pretty observant Josh. When you grow up in Chicago,it pretty much comes with the territory. Not too long ago,in my neighborhood,right near the corner of Stoney Peak Drive & World Trade Drive,there was a manhole cover that was askew. The lid was on but it wasn't. MOST people wouldn't even have noticed. I noticed it out of the corner of my eye while riding shotgun in my roommate's car on the opposite side of the driveway(Carmel Summit). Had I been walking that same sidewalk and texting,I most likely would've just tripped and looked extremely stupid. The manhole cover sat like this for about a week till someone(Maybe perhaps from the city or a private citizen)fixed it. My point,Josh,is this:I have NO way of knowing whether or not the city forgot to put that manhole cover back on properly or maybe some kids were f--king around and thinking they were being funny. There's a 99% chance that it was kids. I don't think city workers are THAT stupid or lazy. Being that I have no way of knowing,MAYBE the same thing happened in Staten Island. The city MAY not have been at fault. If that girl hadn't been texting while walking(like a complete retard I might add)she might be alive today. Bottom line? If you're stupid enough to ignore common sense,maybe the world doesn't have use for you anyway. It might seem harsh but life isn't soft and cuddly like a puppy dog either.— July 29, 2009 9:53 a.m.
