Never Too Old to Rock
Cool. I wondered how the show went. I've seen them a few times, once flying out to Phoenix for a show (I had a friend that just moved there, so that was my excuse). I always dig the big jail bars that come out during Jailbreak. And, I met a woman in her 60s who once told me the company she worked for (out in the east county, like Santee), said they're the ones that made the huge Rosie that comes out during Whole Lotta Rosie. AC/DC complained that the breasts weren't big enough, so they made a second one. Nice to hear that Angus is still duckwalking with his schoolboy uniform, and rockin' the SD fans.— September 10, 2009 8:44 a.m.

The funniest thing about that song rickey... Everyone always asked Steve Miller what that word was. And I believe in the early 90s, or late 80s, someone made a movie called "Pompatus of Love," based on that line. Miller, who has known for stealing many guitar riffs (listen to Joe Walsh's Rocky Mountain Way, and then Millers "The Stake"). I once interviewed Jimmy Greenspoon of Three Dog Night, and he went off on how much he hated Steve Miller and the stuff he "stole". Well... My stepdad played a song for me from the early 60s. Some black, doo-wop group, and they were singing about the "pompatus of love". And Miller claims it's a nonsense word that HE made up himself! Unbelievable. Anyway...I'd think if you have a favorite band, you'd know the words to most of their songs.— September 10, 2009 8:32 a.m.
McDonald's -- Over 50 Billion Sued
That reminds me, Pete. What's with McDonald's always doing hip-hop songs? They've been doing that for about a decade now. It's like they're trying to tap into the young, urban culture and show how "hip" they are.— September 9, 2009 2:59 p.m.
Six-String for Sale
Here's a link to a story I did on a party that Greg had after he won the lawsuit a few months back: http://www.sandiegoreader.com/news/2009/jul/29/be…— September 9, 2009 2:55 p.m.
San Diego Stupid Chargers -- The Tila Tequilla Edition
So...in honor of refried I'll use this term... Mexican Stand-off. What if that's what happens? A person is drunk, and another person decides NOT to let them leave. Now, if you have a female that's drunk and wants to leave...the guy could sound all noble. But think about the can of worms this opens. A man "detaining" a woman that's drunk. He's holding her, against her will. Someone needs to let everyone know what the rule should be on this. I'd first think this would've been discussed before hand. Just as bars and restaurants can't let a person get drunk, a person at a house probably has a bit of responsibility in this regard, but who knows. I have no clue what the laws are. And apparently others don't, either.— September 8, 2009 7:31 p.m.
Police Officer and Rapper -- One Kills a Man. One Gives Away Cars.
I agree that it seems odd to shoot AFTER the knife is out of his hand. I say, unload your guns when the dude was still holding the weapon. But, I hate when families start saying "He's a good guy, he was just off his meds" or something equally silly. If you get off your meds, and pull a knife on your family...you're not someone that should be walking around society. You should be locked up in a home, or you should be forced to take your meds or immediately be locked up. Or...you can get shot by cops and die. Take your pick.— September 8, 2009 7:12 p.m.
San Diego Stupid Chargers -- The Tila Tequilla Edition
I've never really understood the whole citizens arrest thing. So...let's say she does the citizens arrest. And it turns out she was lying. Or, that she couldn't prove her case and that witnesses say he never put a hand on her. Can he turn around and put a citizens arrest on her, for "false imprisonment" (by being contained by the cops). It all gets so dicey. Which is why it's best to leave the pyschos alone. I went out with a woman once that just got plastered. And we went back to her house, and she saw the tape recorder in my back pocket. She started screaming that I was recording her or that I worked for the FBI...all kinds of crazy crap. I told her it was from an interview with someone earlier in the day. I even played her the tape inside. She wasn't convinced. And she knocked some things off her shelf. I started wondering if neighbors would hear this, and think I was assaulting her. I told her I had to go, and she blocked the front door. I didn't know what to do...because to leave, I'd have to put my hands on her and remove her from the door. She wanted me to hand over the recorder, and I wouldn't. I just knew she'd smash it or take the tape out of it. I waited for 15 minutes, until she walked towards the 'fridge for another beer. I then made my escape, as she was screaming crazy crap at me. She called the next day apologizing and asking if she could take me out for a nice steak dinner. I never returned the call.— September 8, 2009 4:25 p.m.
San Diego Stupid Chargers -- The Tila Tequilla Edition
They are saying Tila had no bruises on her and was drunk. Not sure why they'd arrest Merriman, then. She has already Tweeted that he had 'roid rage. Robbie...no harm will come to his career based on this. But the Chargers will be done with him and his antics. As to her allergies to alcohol, there was video of her on TV talking about how drunk and wasted she was. So, I doubt that as well. But yeah, I don't know why ANY famous person doesn't "vett" their women a little better. With all the illegitimate kids, VD, allegations on a number of things...it just seems way too risky.— September 8, 2009 3:54 p.m.
John Moores sinks Padres pay to number 29 of 30 teams
I recently lost out in an auction, on a signed business card of Satchel Paige. What an interesting character, and the batters that faced him, said he was the best ever. I think when Cleveland had him play for those few years of MLB ball, that had a huge rocking chair in the dugout. At least that's what I heard.— September 8, 2009 12:12 a.m.
San Diego Stupid Chargers -- The Tila Tequilla Edition
Oh...regarding the bruising on her, I don't know all the details. But I do know this. At this point, cops have seen everything. They've seen the woman that lies and said the guy hit her. They've seen the woman lie and say the guy didn't hit her, after making the call (and having a bloody nose and fat lip). They've seen every scenario you can think of. And if she didn't have any marks on her, and appeared drunk, then I don't think they'd be arresting Merriman. Although, I would hope they would at that point, arrest her for filing a false police report or whatever. There was just a story in the news about a boy that had been missing for two years. It turns out, the mother took him to the grandmothers house. They were living in this tiny room with a hidden wall. Finally, search warrants were issued, and the best thing of all -- the cops aren't just charging the mother with kidnapping. They're also charging the grandmother for helping out. I heard the father talking in an interview, and he said his ex-wife accused him of abusing the boy, and he was interviewed and interrogated three different times regarding those charges, and always passed those things with flying colors. So what I wonder is...let's just say the mother DID NOT kidnap their child and go into hiding. Shouldn't she be charged with lying? I mean, if you are lying to cops and judges, about your spouse abusing the kid -- simply because you want custody or to make his/her life hell -- well, you should immediately lose custody of the kid, and possibly your rights to ever see that child (or at least without court-ordered supervision).— September 8, 2009 12:09 a.m.
