Hot prowling and burglaries in Normal Heights

**"The three cases on ‘beat 811’ are certainly cause for concern."** They certainly are. But I do wonder if these thieves would be concentrating on one area, if they were not so confident that the cops will not be around. Remember the days when things like this resulted in increased patrols? When the cops tried to actually catch criminals in the act? No more. Now, it seems the cops don't go anywhere unless they are called. And people wonder why there are so many guns in the homes. Everyone is on their own out here, and the police are not going to do anyone any good if they only show up after the fact.

Military contractors indicted for stealing medical equipment

Say what? Pleaded guilty to defrauding Medicare of more than $1 million and prosecution for securities fraud postponed? And the US Attorney's office is hunting down people for selling a gram of pot, but with these sleazeballs it's "a monitor will...approve or veto business decisions"? That is punishment? That is what passes for justice these days? What an unbelievable disgrace.

Midway District’s Heritage Inn explosion unrelated to meth

Something does not add up here. I'm no expert, but the UT reported that a box of unopened butane canisters were found in the room by the fire department after the explosion. The occupants were extracting oil from pot by heating it up, using a butane flame in the process. No one has said definitively what caused the explosion but the theory is the room filled with butane and then the guy lit a cigarette. But what does not make sense to me is, if they were using the butane all along to extract the oil, then that means there was a lit flame the whole time. Setting aside for the moment the question of how a room fills with butane when the butane is being burned as quickly as it comes out of the canister, the question I have is, why didn't the butane flame that was burning throughout the whole process ignite the butane that supposedly accumulated in the room?

Visduh, you should know by now; when the law is broken by those paid to uphold it....it doesn't really count! If San Diego is famous for anything it is how those with a shield can pretty much get away with anything. The tale of these two thugs reminds me of a strange movie called "Helwig and the Angry Inch." I think that may be what the problem is.

Mayor Filner backtracks on enforcement of medical marijuana dispensaries

One step forward and two back, doesn't get you very far but at least shows direction. I worry he is going to go which ever way the wind blows. When a politician moves like that, he stands for nothing. I was hoping Mr. Filner was going be a noticeably better mayor. Only time will tell but this is not a good start.
