City Attorney finds a way to bypass court ruling against Plaza de Panama Project

Criminals my ashcan. The only criminals are those trying to figure out how to do an end run around the law and undermine the very requirements that were put in place to prevent this kind of nonsense. Mr. Gloria needs to stop with the stinkeye behavior and Mr. Goldsmith needs to start acting like the City Attorney he is supposed to be and not the legal lapdog of the local moneybags. Who, exactly do these guys think they are representing? It's certainly not the majority of their constituents.

Jimbo’s to take Mervyns spot in Horton Plaza

I read they plan to have about 80 dedicated spaces on the 4th Level of the G St. garage. I assume they will be free, probably with validation.

Butler Canyon Loop, Anza-Borrego Desert State Park

A great hike. The trail that goes up from the "Hidden Spring" sign is the one where I encountered the ram that I use as my icon. I actually took 26 photos of that goat while he stood on the trail not 10 feet from me. He seemed pretty peaceful and turned right, left, put his head up and then down, posing while I kept snapping photos. There are a lot of Indian artifacts laying around on the ground up on Jackass Flat. Morteros too. Back down Rockhouse Canyon about 1/2 mile is another trail known as Alcoholic Pass. I heard it was used by miners and Indians to get from Rockhouse to Borrego Springs. That's a long walk but I have walked the trail where it crosses from Rockhouse to Butler Canyon.

SD home values not in bubble, says Cunningham

I agree with you, Don. I call it the "diving board affect." The further down home prices drop, the greater the rise in the recovery. San Diego did not see the kind of drop that other areas did and consequently, we will not be seeing as much of a bounce.

Community garden at Robb Field?

I think this is a great idea. There are so many areas in the city that could be turned into productive and attractive garden space. This is the kind of thing that is catching on in a lot of cities, with people using small, public spaces as well as their own patios and yards to grow their own vegetables, herbs and more. I know that section near Robb Field and it would be such an improvement to have it turned into garden space. Good luck Mr. Cairns. I hope the Park & Rec folks see the wisdom in your plan and give you the full green light.

Otherwise they would know what's been going on in OB lately and about the heightened awareness of neighbors and increased patrols by locals and police. Food-truck fight in Del Mar

What is with the City of Del Mar? I think the people there suffer from a severe case of having their head up their asterisk. I don't know if it's snobbery, or just plain skinflint greed. During holidays, I read, parking meters are not enforced..."except in the City of Del Mar." Sundays...parking enforcement is suspended..."except in the City of Del Mar." I half expect to hear..."Tomorrow is the first day of Spring...except in the City of Del Mar...the holidays are coming...except in the City of Del Mar...tomorrow is Wednesday except in the City of Del Mar. What is with these Del Martians? Why must they constantly live in a state of altered reality? Maybe that's it--maybe what Del Martians really want is to have the rest of world live with reality...(all together now) "except for the City of Del Mar."
