Was Dan Broderick Really a Model of Integrity?
fumber writes: fred williams is still on his dope smoking crusade to free our minds with excremental substances though...what a loser ...and he should be impaled with one of his own steel sausages..on the 6pm news. Golly, thanks fumber. You're right. I do think we should all smoke excremental substances. This is why another synonym for pot is "s***". So smoke that s*** up, bro! And you are absolutely correct to say I'm a loser. Why just last night I was playing scrabble...I lost. So humiliating. Why, fumber, you are so insightful and thoughtful too. I'd never expected such an endorsement of my steel sausage. It's good to know I have an admirer. I'm sorry I wouldn't let you touch my sausage, even though you begged to do so, but next time you need a good impaling, just let me know. I only differ with you on one tiny issue...I don't really care for the 6 p.m. news. It's so shallow. So what about changing it to 7 p.m.? You know, the News Hour on PBS? That's a great show, and I think it would get a lot more viewers too! Whattya say, my dear RealAmericanChristian(TM) friend? Best, Fred Williams— May 14, 2008 11:56 a.m.
Local Media Not Mentioning Transgressions of Their Stars
You should see the tons of comments online at the UT site... Looks like Mr. Rod "Outta" Luck is a bit full of himself. I think it's the alcohol. If he would just follow the example of the peace loving scholars at SDSU, he'd mellow out with a bit of weed. But then the SWAT team would arrive, bash in his door in the middle of the night, and point guns at his head. Since he's an abuser of alcohol, a very powerful and addictive drug, he gets a free pass for being a shameless jerk until he smacks a girl. If he were a student at SDSU, though, he would be facing feloney charges and a lifelong stigma in addition to being denied an education. At least it's refreshing to see this very rare example of reporters reporting on one of their own. Best, Fred Williams— May 14, 2008 8:56 a.m.

Me? Sarcastic? Noooooo! You know I've got nothing but love for you Don, but stay away from those 'ludes, dude. They're bad news. However, you might want to try medical marijuana for some of the aches and pains of age. It's great for appetite...even better than wheat grass for a night cuddling by the fire with the missus. Seriously, we all might be better off switching away from the alcohol to something far more benign. Everyone knows of "nasty drunks", but the only thing a pothead attacks is a bag of cheetos. As the SDSU drug raids news trickles out, we find that in fact the number of arrests is similar to previous years, and that the lion's share of these persecutions are for simple possession of pot. The media is slowly cluing in to the real story...the DA's office wild inflation of the numbers to justify their violent battering-ram raids. How is it that in an investigation lasting a year they netted so very little? Weed has always been ubiquitous at SDSU. Yet somehow SDSU is recognized as the premier research university in the CSU system. Maybe there's a correlation. Great schools like UC Berkeley are also well known for heavy pot consumption. Perhaps pot heads are better researchers, and more independent thinkers, than mere beer guzzlers. I'd be interested in seeing the Reader interview some of the low level "offenders" to tell the story of how anti-pot laws destroy lives. Clearly the "drug" itself is NOT the problem. After all, you can smoke up a lot of weed as a young man and still be elected President of the United States. Ask Bush, Clinton, or Obama... Best, Fred Williams— May 14, 2008 8:50 a.m.
Local Media Not Mentioning Transgressions of Their Stars
I am SHOCKED, I tell you, SHOCKED to learn that a member of the media could ever be engaged in untoward behavior of any type I'm even more shocked that this would ever be reported. After all, the media has the golden role of demanding answers. Yet, the media itself must NEVER be questioned. Indeed, being a member of the media fraternity means you have a platinum "Get Out of Jail Free" card that never runs out. As long as the reporters agree to always go easy on the cops and DA's, never raising an eyebrow at cops on steroids road-raging away, arresting pot smoking students, and ignoring real crime like multi-million dollar sports-entertainment giveaways...then the media gets a free pass. "Play Ball!" The only exception to this is if the member of the media fraternity happens to travel to another jurisdiction. If you're up in the bay area or do some nastiness in Florida...well, Dumanis can't help you cover up way over there. So, members of the local media, keep your shenanigans close to home. You just keep on smearing our political enemies, and ignoring the real crimes, and you'll be protected. Just like you protect us from any real scrutiny. (Oh, ignore those plunging circulation and viewership ratings...they don't mean nuthin.) Psssst! Wanna Make 90 Percent a Month? Those Who Bit on Escondido Ponzi Scheme Got Taken to the Cleaners
If you think this is an unbelievable scam, listen to this one... A sports-entertainment business proposes that it will have the city borrow hundreds of millions of dollars, blowing its good credit, and saddling it with debt until 2037. This money will be used for stealing land and buildings from productive businesses and residents downtown. Once they are pushed aside, the city will build a ball park for the sports-entertainment business. While the city "owns" 70% of this structure, it will have NO say in how it is run. Also the sports-entertainment business will pay only token rent of 500k per year, while the city must provide police and traffic services for each and every event. In addition, the city must give away all the surrounding property to the sports-entertainment business and its JudiciousManagementInstitution (JMI). Not to worry, "tourists will pay" for this deal. Even though the TOT has been firmly directed right back into the hotelier's hands, and the hundreds of millions of dollars worth of very expensive bonds are now paid for out of the general fund...until 2037. Okay, surely this couldn't be real. Nobody would agree to a deal this dumb. I mean, to finance such a boneheaded blunder you'd have to do something criminal like...I dunno, raid the pension fund. But certainly, the staffers and the city manager Jack McGrory would blow the whistle...unless maybe they get something like wildly expensive benefits or fat jobs promised to them to keep quiet, huh? I mean, even so, voters would never go for it, would they? Huh? What? Oh. Welcome to San Diego. Enjoy that ballpork... (Isn't it time to sue John Moores for our money back?)— May 14, 2008 7:25 a.m.

Re: #2. We all stand up for wheat grass and pornography rights. It's only the TrueAmericanChristian(TM) thing to do, fumber. Re: #19 Don, we all know you are in your dotage, and have never had the pleasure of exploring the standard uses of sex, drugs, and rock and roll. But this just doesn't excuse you from getting with all us hep cats and knowing that "gange" (pronounced gaenj) is short for "ganja", which is another word for marijuana. Marijuana is a drug so powerful and addictive that just one puff turns you into a raging, violent sex-offender/murderous-animal. Scientific studies have proven that, in addition to wheat-grass, marijuana is single-handedly responsible for the moral decay of today's youth and proliferation of pornography on the internets. This is why all right thinking TrueAmericanChristians(TM), like fumber, believe that any and all smokers of this evil devil's-weed must be publicly executed. So you just ignore all those financial shenanigans, frauds, thefts, and ballpork rip-offs. Follow the lead of Dumanis and put college kids in jail for using this horrible weed, also sometimes known as "gange". Best, Rev. Fred Williams Leader of the TrueAmericanChristians(TM)— May 14, 2008 7:11 a.m.
Never mind
Let's make sure we understand this properly: Dumanis prosecutes Castaneda over a non-crime non-event at the behest of Cheryl and Greg Cox. Dumanis puts an innocent woman in jail using inuendo and character assasination plus tainted evidence, and when she's completely exonerated Dumanis says she's still considering pressing charges in the future. Dumanis supports killer-cops who murder their wives in front of infant children, saying the cop deserves leniency. Dumanis sees a road-raging cop shoot a woman and child, and prosecutes the woman while giving the cop a vacation. Meanwhile, we see open bribery of current and former public officials, including former Mayoral aide Tom Story, and former State Senator Steve Peace, going on right before our eyes. Dumans can't be bothered to even blink at this sort of crime. Isn't it time for a recall?— May 4, 2008 6:37 a.m.
Tough guys
I think you left out the whole San Ysidro McDonald's masacre tragedy that resulted from Sander's on-duty drunken negligence. From what I've read elsewhere, Sanders delayed giving the order to the police sniper to shoot Huberty...so Sanders could have time to change into his uniform and be at the scene for interviews by the media. Apparently, he was at a Mission Bay booze party at the time, and drove, perhaps while intoxicated, to his office to change. Meanwhile, men, women, and children were being shot. Today, Sanders takes credit for that operation, and the UT treats him like a hero former-cop, instead of an incompetent who should have been publicly disgraced and expelled from the force over his behavior that day. It's no surprise a man with Sander's total lack of character would be represented by a lying *ss-licker like Sainz. What's worse than any of the profanity, however, is the obvious fact that the emails show that the UT takes specific directions from the Mayor's office on how to report and spin the news. Kittle and Sainz (as well as other UT writers like Matthew Hall) are so cozy with each other, they're practically sharing underwear. This subversion extends to other news outlets too, like CityBeat and VOSD, where Sainz is obviously on first name terms with the editors and writers. How much Sainz influences their coverage is debatable, but it's clear that they've been compromised by the deceptions of Sanders and Sainz.— May 4, 2008 6:29 a.m.
Celebrities Have Donated Money to Jerry Sanders, Including a New Celebrity: Marie Walsh

Celebrities Have Donated Money to Jerry Sanders, Including a New Celebrity: Marie Walsh
LeFevre illustrates how out of whack this country has become. A 19 year old girl, going along with her friends, dabbles in drug distribution. When she's set up by a narc, she gets busted. Then she's sentenced to 10-20 years in prison. Now that's an outrage. (Fortunately, some of these laws have been changed and she wouldn't be sentenced so harshly today for the same kind of first offence.) But it's not as outrageous as the fact that wealthy sports-club owners like Spanos and Moores have bribed public officials in order to steal well over half a billion dollars from this city in the last decade. The direct result of this was the loss of life due to out of control wild-fires. We spent the money on football and baseball instead of fire equipment and other infrastructure. Their accomplices in this crime, including Susan Golding, Jack McGrory and Casey Gwinn, far from being apprehended and facing trial, are still lauded by the UT and other media outlets as great leaders and visionaries. Yep. What a great country. We'll throw 19 year old girls in prison for what seems to be mere stupidity. We'll ignore vastly greater crimes right under our noses simply because the perpetrators are wealthy and well-connected. It's a shame, however, that LeFevre is associated with an executive of Waste Management and Edco. If you look at the city's plans, we're going to be giving fat privatization contracts to these types of countries. It appears LeFevre's "unknowing" spouse had the job of greasing palms to make sure his interests were put in front of the tax payers. He even got his poor wife to make "campaign contributions" to ensure his interests are served when we fire the long serving city trash-haulers and replace them with poorly-paid Edco/Waste Management workers. Of course, the debate will rage about how LeFevre should do hard time for her youthful indiscretion, and no body will notice that we're losing our city. I'm beginning to think Rev. Wright is correct, and God has damned America.— May 4, 2008 6:18 a.m.
