Priority in discovery means that Gloria Allred can tie Bob Filner down to a set of facts before he knows exactly what everyone else will testify to. A judge can regulate the order, although Ms. Allred can serve a notice of taking deposition within.10 days of filing the complaint. Women need workplace protection. Some men are harassed and sue. They shun publicity. I know of one man who was awarded one-million dollars here in San Diego. I cannot judge the alleged victims in this case, but the issue is being used for political and economic purposes. Think Kenneth Starr on steroids. Developers will profit the most, as intended. Use of a chaperone will become mandatory for all politicians at all times. Seems a bit crazy to me.— August 17, 2013 2:32 p.m.

The oh, boo-hooing and tears at the press conference just because of a hostile work place allegation and "ramming of tongue." None of us wants a hostile work environment based on sexism, but with all the starvation on the planet and death and suffering in wars, Frye should save the act for real tragedies.— August 17, 2013 12:28 p.m.

There is pending litigation against our Mayor. The City Attorney should not make public statements where he would render jurors unfit to hear the case in San Diego. His statements will require a costly change of venue and will greatly prejudice the case. There are ethical rules which govern pre-trial statements which may be violated by lawyers who represent parties to litigation. Palace coup? Filner could be locked out
Sitting on one jury is an isolated experience. Try practicing for 35 years. I have seen hundreds of hostile work cases. Being a practical joker by making joking sexual advances or innuendos constitues a violation of the law. We old men have yet to free ourselves from the old school thinking. Had Filner completed his training, he would have understood that he was giving ammunition to his enemies and dividing the progressives who supported him. I have to complete elimination of bias courses every three years and file proof of completion.— August 17, 2013 8:02 a.m.

Putting aside Cory and Marko, why would Donna Frye lead the charge? She seemed reluctant a year ago to go after influence peddling downtown by developers. I found that strange. She shied away from the openess in government program Filner tried to set up. Cory seemed to have some lawsuits against the city and was concerned about corruption..... San Diegans could be last to know who's paying for Filner recall
The last Filner victim says that she did not want to go on a date with Filner. Gloria Allred went too far with that one. We now know that Filner was being sarcastic with the vast majority of the victims. Not nice but not criminal. The demographics of San Diego, if not the superiority of Democratic principles, will make it a Democratic city like Los Angeles and San Francisco. The right wingers will have to move to Orange County. There are more registered Democrats. I hope the recall, if any, fails and those bankrolling it fail and are exposed. There are now super-majorities in both chambers and a Democratic Governor. Prop 13 should be reversed to expand the tax base more equitably.— August 16, 2013 10:56 p.m.

Has she ever tried a jury case? Usually, she just has uncontested press conferences. Cory Briggs talked of abuse by the City Council when he, Marko and the tearful Donna make their vicarious Swan song. In an ideal world, the vast right wing conspiracy would be exposed and go to jail. I hope Filner fights to the end. The last victim actually said that she didn't want a date. Filner must have been being sarcastic, as I've stated before. He said, she said is all it is. But how many innocent men have been convicted of rape and later DNA proved they were innocent?— August 16, 2013 10:27 p.m.

Filner should not have admitted anything. Going into therapy is a tacit admission. Unfortunately, the mea culpa worked against him. Ever see someone in AA on a court report card saying that driving at 100 mph with a blood alcohol of .25 does not mean that he has a drinking problem? With a parade of witnesses who are coached by many attorneys and encouraged by law enforcement, too, in a civil case, the odds are against Filner. Don Bauder said this himself earlier on. One should admit nothing, but the guy with the .25 BA is at least a periodic alcoholic, a binge drinker. Periodic bingers get into auto accidents. Many lawyers would take McCormack's case. They need 9 jurors. With 16 witnesses, it may come down to who the trial judge is. If it is Richard Strauss, he is one of the best. It is getting to trial that costs so much. Filner's fiance bailed out on him. She was no Hillary Clinton. That hurts, too.— August 16, 2013 8:49 p.m.
