To Stella from Mica: Tales of Beyond the Front Door
Robby, I had to pay steep deposit fees here, too, but I will gladly forfeit them if it comes to that; cats are a smelly business sometimes, and they do cause damage, though I do all I can to mitigate what they've done. A landlord that allows cats is a gem and I won't begrudge the money.— March 12, 2010 11:04 a.m.

Lily, Sweet and Silly
Thanks, nan, she is a real beauty and if I didn't have five little cats already, I would take her. We are not supposed to take the cats out of their traps but she was so obviously tame that she had to have been someone's pet. Without a collar, and being outside, she came into the trap and now is considered a stray. Kathy will get her spayed and put her up for adoption. MsGrant, she does have the sweetest, cutest little face. I snapped the piccies with my cel, wish my camera wasn't broken. I hope she will find a good home. Thanks for taking a peek at her and your good wishes. :)— March 12, 2010 10:39 a.m.

Update: Beautiful Jessie has come home! And: What we learned about lost/found animals
And yes, Daniels, thank you for taking an interest in Jessie, all the energy you directed in bringing her home. :) What a happy wonderful day when one little beast is saved! All things bright and beautiful, All creatures great and small, All things wise and wonderful, The Lord God made them all. Lily, the stray who I trapped yesterday, is crying pitifully in my bathroom at the moment, I will snap a pic of her and post it, maybe someone will adopt her. She's beautiful, sweet, loving. I hope she finds a good home.— March 12, 2010 7:38 a.m.

Pinniped Predicament
Some years ago, I was down at a City Council meeting (I've been to less than five of them, I want to say twice), and when I entered the chamber, the head of the Park and Rec department saw me and waved me over. All of her staff was there, lined up in the chairs against the back wall, but there was an empty seat beside her on the left, and she waved me into it. I sat down for a moment, we talked about an issue pending in my community for about five minutes, then I asked her what she was doing there, and she said she was there regarding the seal beach issue (I'm sure that's not how she phrased it, but that's what I understood she meant). It occurred to me then that this was one of those neverending issues and I thought, Why doesn't the City just make a decision and stick to it, because regardless of who's right or wrong, this is costing us millions of dollars.— March 11, 2010 9 p.m.
