Don Bauder: dwbat: Oh yes, there has been a lot written about ...
"San Diego one of best places to raise family" Really? What part of San Diego? There are many parts of San Diego that are not safe in the daytime let alone raising a family. Are they talking about La Jolla? The beaches? Just where in San Diego are the best places to raise a family? I have lived in San Diego all my life and there are many, if not most, areas that I would not want to raise a family.— September 8, 2018 9:25 a.m.
San Diego’s poor pay 95% of family income for rent
Low wage low/no benefit employers depend on welfare benefits to their employees to bolster their bottom line. Employers who do not pay their employees a living wage and provide benefits should be charged a poverty tax.— September 8, 2018 6:08 a.m.
DMV building doesn't fit the neighborhood
Was at the El Cajon DMV and they are texting when your number is called. Instead of pouring tons of money into new buildings how about opening the DMV 2/7 with everything indoors.— September 8, 2018 6:06 a.m.
Only drunks on the sand in IB
IB is full of druggies and drunks not to mention sewage. It is the southern cousin of OB.— September 7, 2018 5:06 p.m.
Dem, GOP? It's the farmers market, stupid.
Let me get this right. The Farmers Market blow into town every Friday on one of the busiest, Saturday being the other, afternoon/evening of the week destroying the restaurant business on the two blocks they use. The businesses that are impacted are here 365 days a year pouring money into the City coffers and yet the Silly Council allows a bunch of carpetbaggers to squat in two of the three busiest blocks in the Village. Does the Farmers Market really generate more money for the City than the businesses? I have been to the Market and the prices are no deal. Same produce/products can be had at area grocery stores. The City turning their backs on local businesses to accommodate fly-by-night "farmers" from who-knows-where seems wrongheaded to me.— September 7, 2018 5:05 p.m.
Imperial Beach is a food desert
Grocery Outlet is a great store. The products are the same as you can get at a "full-service grocery store" only at reduced prices. Grocery Outlet is a full service grocery store.— September 6, 2018 6:34 a.m.
San Diego one of best places to raise family
When the politicos talk about affordable housing many think they are talking about housing that working people can afford. Affordable housing is defined as housing that is 80% of the market rate. Most people who work by the hour can not afford rent that is 80% of market. When a developer agrees to set aside a percentage of their project they are not talking about income qualified Section 8 housing but the 80% of market affordable housing. Be it "affordable" or income qualified housing it is just another way government subsidizes low wage low/no benefit employers.— September 5, 2018 6:27 a.m.
Goring the golden fleece
San Diego County Taxpayers Association is against anything that benefit the working person. They are anti labor, anti living wage, anti employee rights, anti employee benefits, anti retirement benefits. They are only concerned with management and corporate rights. They only envision a two class society with the wealthy and the working poor.— September 5, 2018 6:21 a.m.
Spit at in Del Taco
All CCW permits are issued by the Sheriffs Office. It is almost impossible to get an application approved by the SO. The number of licensed CCW civilians on the street are greatly outnumbered by the criminals with guns.— September 4, 2018 6:13 a.m.
U-T paperboy blues
The ACI is just another low wage/low no benefit employer who uses "independent" contractors to deliver.— September 3, 2018 6:14 a.m.
