North Park syringe swap site won't change soon
Drugs are a disease of choice. Giving clean needles to dirt bag druggies just enables them to continue to shoot up with no consequences. Druggies should be shunned by the community and nothing should be done to help them or protect them. Anyone who has ever worked with the addicted know that unless and until the person wants off drugs nothing can be done. Let them shoot up and let them die. Good riddance.— October 27, 2017 6:23 a.m.
Middle-aged cops were alleged targets of rage
All dirt bag gang bangers should get LWOP for any crime the commit and in this case he should get the death sentence, which means LWOP.— October 26, 2017 6:40 a.m.
Escondido library to be run by Maryland company
Public employees can be fired. They have protections that provide that they have to be fired for cause not just because. People who work for a company or government should have decent pay and benefits. They only thing they have is their time to sell and should not be forced to sell to the lowest bidder. Union contracts are negotiated. If you think that union workers are paid too much or their benefits are too rich then blame the negotiators on the management side. It seems that you would like to see people work until the employer decides that they are too old or whatever and then just dump them on the streets. The retail/hotel/restaurant industries and insuring future poverty by not providing decent wages, benefits and pensions. Sad that so many people think like you.— October 24, 2017 7:19 a.m.
Escondido library to be run by Maryland company
What happens in these transfers to a private entity is that the private company in order to make a profit cuts wages and benefits and reduces services and personnel and other corner cutting methods.— October 23, 2017 7:19 a.m.
Short-term vacation rental explosion
Homeowners in neighborhoods overrun with short-term rentals should identify the owner of the property and file lawsuits against them as well as filing complaints with the local bought-and-paid-for politicos and call the cops every time there is noise, illegal parking etc. The homeowners and residents need to make the neighborhood unfriendly for short-term rentals.— October 22, 2017 8:33 a.m.
Jobs-dropping September in San Diego County
So the unemployment rate is meaningless as the tourist season ends and school starts. It is just the ebb and flow of the economy and no new real jobs were created.— October 22, 2017 8:28 a.m.
Coronado High water-polo coach to stay dry
Burgess’s attorney said the district committed an "act of tyranny". Really? In the private non-union sector the person would have been fired period. Burgess would have to hire an attorney and sue for his job and back pay. In the private union sector Burgess would have been terminated with no pay or benefits. He then would have to file a grievance with the union and then go to arbitration to resolve the issue. The arbitrator, based on the presentations of both sides, would not get his job back or get his job back with or without back pay and benefits. ONLY in the public sector is someone placed on administrative leave with pay and benefits. If his leave/suspension/termination is upheld then there is no obligation for the repayment of the pay/benefits collected on administrative leave.— October 22, 2017 8:25 a.m.
Bay Area influences
Matt: Your anti-union bias is showing. All unions have labor law firms. There are very few law firms that specialize on the labor side of labor management. For every law firm that represents labor there are a hundred that represent business.— October 19, 2017 6:42 a.m.

Sounds like Southern Highland is just another dumping ground for seniors.— October 19, 2017 6:38 a.m.
