It is out, but is It good?
Well...there are good bits. But it doesn’t touch Get Out as the year’s best horror flick. Because the real horror is the evil that men do. The monster — in this case, Pennywise the Dancing Clown — is just a manifestation of the cycle of violence. Every 27 years? Why, it’s as if the problem is generational...the sins of the fathers being visited upon...but that’s just silly. Hey, that clown has fangs!
Elsewhere, there’s lots of love this week. Teenage, sexually confused love; Indian, culturally difficult love; madcap, cross-generational love; friendly, justice-seeking love; and fatherly, dangerously meddling love.
There’s some dancing and politics too, but we missed out on those.
