Tuesday 27
Trombonist/vocalist Lizzi Trumbore is back in town, playing a house party gig with guitarist Peter Sprague and vocalist Leonard Patton at the Trumbore household (17738 Villamoura Drive, Poway). Concert begins at 5:30 p.m. and they are accepting donations.

Wednesday 28
Gilbert Castellanos begins the first of two gigs at Panama 66 (1450 El Prado) when he hosts the Young Lion Series at 6 p.m. this week featuring the young bassist Dharma Dorazio, before heading indoors to the Copley Auditorium at 8:30 p.m., when he and Joshua White lead the jam session until 11:30 p.m. All ages, no cover, musicians bring your instruments!... Leonard Patton has a duo with pianist Michael Leroy Peed and special guest Lizzi Trumbore at the La Valencia Hotel (1132 Prospect) from 6 to 10 p.m. Free.

Thursday 29
The Gary Rich Trio with Jason Shattil on piano and Dean Hulett on bass host a jam session at Harbor Music Hall (1506 India Street) from 7:30 to 10:30 for a $10 cover… Gilbert Castellanos has a holiday gig at Cusp (7955 La Jolla Shores Drive) from 6:30 to 8:30. It’s free, but the choice tables require a dinner reservation… The Leonard Patton/Danny Green Quartet with Justin Grinnell and Julien Cantelm play in front of the San Diego Museum of Art (1450 El Prado) from 5 to 8 p.m. Free.

Friday 30
Pianist Chase Morrin returns to San Diego to play the new Dizzy’s (1717 Morena Boulevard) in a trio with Nathan Hubbard and Justin Grinnell at 8 p.m. Admission runs you $15 cash at the door, $10 for students… Lower Left with Mikan Zlatkovich on keys, Will Lyle on bass and Barry Farrar on drums play Bouree Southern Bistro (6523 University Avenue) from 7 to 9 p.m. No cover charge… The Steph Johnson Trio with Rob Thorsen and Richard Sellers play Panama 66 from 7 to 9 p.m. Free… Gilbert Castellanos presents Jazz at the Westgate (1055 Second Avenue) with Marshall Hawkins and Joshua White at 8 p.m. No cover, $20 food/drink minimum… Guitarist Zo Shah has a duo with Leonard Patton at the Asado Grill at Hotel Karlan (14455 Penasquitos Drive) from 5 to 8 p.m. No cover.

Get your party on with the Steph Johnson Trio featuring Rob Thorsen on bass and Richard Sellers on drums at the Rancho Valencia Resort (5921 Valencia Circle, Fairbanks Ranch) from 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets will run you $150 per person… The Leonard Patton Trio with Ed Kornhauser and Mackenzie Leighton play the La Valencia Hotel (1132 Prospect Street) from 7 p.m. to midnight. Tickets run $115 per person.

Sunday 1
Start 2017 off with the Blue Rockit Blues Band featuring Charles Burton, James East, Hindy Bare and Barry Farrar playing the Seaport Village Gazebo (849 West Harbor Drive) from 1 to 4 p.m. in a free concert… Pianist Ed Kornhauser and vocalist Leonard Patton play in duo at the Turf Supper Club (1116 25th Street) at 8 p.m. No cover.
