In Chad Deal’s review of Rare Form, he described a sandwich as a “Kosher” pile of pastrami, which seems unlikely. The menu doesn’t seems to say that. Furthermore, there is Swiss cheese on the sandwich, which would make the whole thing nonkosher.
A food writer should know better.
We loved your San Diego Restaurant Guide. My minor complaint is that you didn’t say where the food shown on the cover is served, especially the Stone Crab Asparagus Salad. Please spill the beans!
I treasure Don Bauder and News of the WieRD.

Please someone tell Matt Potter that the shipyard in Bath, Maine is not a Navy shipyard. The shipyard in Bath is a privately owned shipyard and should not be referred to as a Navy shipyard.
Common knowledge here, Matt. If you need help in the future writing your columns about Navy stuff, feel free to ask for my help!
Barbarella, your Diary of a Diva column in the September 10 issue (“Barberica Industries”) is probably the most revealing, yet embarrassing thing you’ve ever written. Good lord, girl! Who do you think you are — Steve Lopez? Yikes. You write for the Reader, for heaven’s sake!
Your attitude, and David’s attitude, towards the “help” is horrifying. David, grow a heart! And, Barbarella, get your own silly coffee! Butler, my foot.

Susan - Hebrew National, the most renowned supplier of kosher foods in the galaxy, makes a fantastic pastrami, though you are right that it is not explicitly stated on the menu.
Swiss is one of the most commonly available kosher cheeses out there, along with cheddar and mozzarella (provided they are produced following the guidelines of the kashrut.)
Again, not explicitly stated, so you have a fine point.
Thanks for reading, and greetings from a fellow Jamulian!

It has come to my attention that the combination of dairy and meat is super not kosher, so yes, Susan, a food writer should know better. Dudely noted.
Your gentile is showing, brah.
Guilty as charged. I roll on shabbos.
