Wednesday 13
It’s always a busy night for trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos, who starts early by hosting the Young Lions Series at Croce’s Park West (2760 Fifth Avenue) this week featuring Nathan Collins at 7:00 p.m. for a $5 cover. Castellanos plays the first set, then runs over to the Latin Jazz Jam session at Seven Grand (3054 University Avenue) with Irving Flores, Mike Holguin and others, where the music starts at 9:00 p.m. 21+, no cover, musicians bring your horns!

Thursday 14
There’s a double-bill concert at 98 Bottles (2400 Kettner Boulevard) starring the Danny Green Trio with Justin Grinnell and Julien Cantelm plus Roberta Donnay and the Prohibition featuring Green, Grinnell and Michael Barsimanto on drums. 8:00 p.m. $15 at the door … the Rob Thorsen Quartet with special guest Larry de la Cruz on saxophone, Joshua White on piano, and Dan Schnelle on drums play Croce’s Park West from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. $10 cover.

Friday 15
Joshua White and Gilbert Castellanos play a rare duo concert at UCSD’s Osher Institute (9600 N. Torrey Pines Road, Room 129) from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. free admission … the Reka Parker/ Paul Seaforth Quartet salute the music of Kenny Wheeler featuring Charlie Arbelaez, Jeff Blanco and Bob Daniels at 98 Bottles, 8:00 p.m. $15 at the door … the Allison Adams Tucker Quartet with Danny Green, Justin Grinnell, and Julien Cantelm play Croce’s Park West from 7:00 p.m. $10 cover … the Steph Johnson Trio with Rob Thorsen and Fernando Gomez perform at the Oasis House Concert series (3130 Moore Street –858-945-6273) at 8:00 p.m. $15 at the door … Gilbert Castellanos teams up with Mundell Lowe and Marshall Hawkins at the Westgate Hotel (1055 Second Avenue) at 8:00 p.m. No cover, $20 food/drink minimum.

The Robert Dove Quartet plus Gilbert Castellanos celebrate the release of Dove’s new CD “Paradigm Shift,” at 98 Bottles, featuring Dean Hulett on bass, Ed Kornhauser on piano and Ryan Shaw on drums. 8:00 p.m. $15 at the door.

Sunday 17
The Matt Smith Neu Jazz Trio with Ed Kornhauser on piano and Mackenzie Leighton on bass host the Sunday jam session at 98 Bottles from 2:00 p.m. 21+, no cover charge … the Danny Green Trio with Justin Grinnell and Julien Cantelm play Croce’s Park West from 6:00 p.m. for a $5 cover.
