Marujah’s release party for Gringolandia happens Thursday, January 8, hosted by Tim Pyles at Mary Jane’s, inside the downtown Hard Rock Hotel. “Gringolandia is the story of the musical melting pot and the influence of Latin street music and the message of the Clash and Rage Against the Machine,” says frontman and songwriter Enrique Madico, aka Comandante Kalavera, who describes the album as “multicultural high-energy dub stoner-rock destruction.”

On January 17, Brick by Brick will host the release of a new five-track EP from the No Name Gang, who’ll perform alongside Knee High Fox, Hed PE, and Powerman 5000. “It’s going to be only hard copies that night,” says singer Justin Hendrick, “and a digital version comes later.”

Tribal Seeds keyboardist E.N. Young debuts his sophomore solo album Live Love Stay Up on January 20. Recorded and mixed at his Imperial Sound and Recording Studio in I.B., the album will be available in three versions: original, acoustic, and dub editions. The album includes guest appearances from world and reggae specialists such as Maad T-Ray, Gonzo, Steven Jacobo, Ooklah the Moc, Kali Navales, and Father Psalms, with a music video for “Eye of the Storm” already streaming online.

The Danny Green Trio will play a CD-release concert for After the Calm on January 24 at UCSD’s Loft, featuring the jazz pianist backed by bassist Justin Grinnell and drummer Julien Cantelm.

On January 27, Sledding with Tigers is releasing their first vinyl pressing of Not the Beatles Yet, in a limited edition of 300 copies (125 on rainbow splatter vinyl and 175 on black). Its first single “Quit YR Job” is available now.

Pharmacy’s Wrack ’N’ Roll Part 2 drops January 31 at the Chico Club in La Mesa. “We’ll do our entire set of old and new songs, plus a few covers” says singer Kit Johnson of the free show. The album features their version of a tune by early local punk legends the Zeros, “Don’t Push Me Around.”
