All Leather’s Joyner says, “No last show, no reunion, no final record.”
“All Leather is no longer a band. No last show, no reunions, no final record,” decrees Nathan Joyner, guitarist of the now disbanded All Leather.
With drummer Jung Sing living in Mexicali and synthesizer player Eric Livingstone bouncing between San Francisco and Los Angeles, the logistics of simply being in the same room in order to write and rehearse became a financial burden.
“There’s no bad blood,” says Joyner during our phone conversation. “We did have a whole album’s worth of material, we just decided not to record it. It’s a waste of time and money to not tour on it or play a show with it.... We just decided to move on with other projects, ’cause everybody has something else going on.”
The production collaboration known as Leg Lifters, which consists of Joyner and All Leather’s vocalist Justin Pearson, recently finished a remix of a band called Warsaw Wasraw, to be released as a seven-inch on Pearson’s 31G label. Pearson also sings for the band Retox, which is about to go on a West Coast tour beginning at the Casbah February 16. Sing also plays drums in Maniqui Lazer, while Joyner plays drums and sings in Hot Nerds. Joyner’s other production/DJ duo, Ese’ & Zain, recently solidified a bimonthly residency in Mexico, playing Yourevolution Bar in Tijuana on February 25.
