Paul Conrad Ward Jr., La Jolla attorney, was disbarred on Aug. 11, 2012. In March of last year, he was sentenced in New Mexico to 21 months in prison for taking $500,000 from an investor and promising to put the money in an overseas trading program. But Ward admitted that he had spent the money on himself and on others and had not invested it. Ward had been on interim suspension since June 12 of last year.
