The State Bar of California has disbarred three local attorneys, primarily for misbehavior in loan modification cases. Kent C. Wilson was disbarred for 30 cases of misrepresentation in loan modification actions. He closed his office without notifying clients who had paid upfront fees for services that weren't performed. Mohamed Fouzi Haffar was disbarred on 36 counts of misconduct in loan modification cases. He failed to provide competent legal services. Thomas Craig Nelson was disbarred on nine counts of misconduct in three matters. He had taken upfront fees to litigate against mortgage lenders but never initiated litigation. He also misappropriated $38,000 in client funds, according to the Bar.

Impressive! Now what is needed is a box-score analysis of the various other professional certification boards and authorities' similar actions against their own. Those with scores near zero might be considered for dissolving. Medicine? Architecture? Landscape Architecture? Engineering?

Some groups keep their disciplinary actions as quiet as they can. Best, Don Bauder

Only three-that should be 300 in this county alone. The number of lawyers who swindled the public over "loan modification" is incalculable, and the Bar is a joke. There is a clown right now spending millions on TV advertising on loan modifications, but now he is "selling" his "technique" via a DVD. Stay away from this clown too....forgot his name but will post it as soon as I see his TV ad again,

Agreed: loan modification scams have been ubiquitous, especially in San Diego County. Best, Don Bauder

Two of the three were close to retirement age, so they probably don't care- The last guy Haffar was only licensed 7 years ago..what an idiot.

Even close to retirement, those two probably didn't want to retire with a scar on their records. Best, Don Bauder
