MEXICALI, BC - The Directorate of Public Security of Mexicali announced that during the first week of December, members of the Municipal police made 1,469 arrests for misdemeanors, 218 for serious crimes of which 75 were arrests for thefts from businesses, homes or vehicles.

"The holiday season is a season where the largest number of arrests for misdemeanors occur to businesses and primarily robberies, because they go on holiday or even simply to a holiday party and the houses are left alone, which allows criminals to more easily enter them to steal", said Alejandro Monreal, Commander of the Urban Area.

MEXICALI, BC - Arrests by members of the Municipal Police were recorded this morning after a report a woman was stripped of her car on avenida Purísima in colonia Baja California.

The vehicle stolen from the woman was a 2002 model Ford F150 pickup with border plates who said two subjects came up to where she was in a white Hyundai Tiburon, one of them descended from the car to steal her vehicle, taking flight in the direction of Río Nuevo.

Having the characteristics of the stolen car, Municipal Police searched and managed to find the Hyundai, stopping the crew; who gestured they planned to abandon the stolen vehicle in colonia Lucio Blanco, where they went and found the thief driving the stolen unit. http://www.lacronica.com/EdicionEnLinea/Notas/Noticias/10122012/648713.aspx
