Celebrity news can sometimes be interesting. Sometimes it's boring. But there are a few things that involve people saying one thing about a person, that you can clearly call BS on without knowing all the details.

It's funny, because I've watched some of those police shows when cops are questioning a suspect. And it's amazing how quickly you can tell when someone is lying. There's a certain way you answer questions when you have nothing to hide. Or if you weren't involved in the crime. Or if you did something wrong, but not the crime you're accused of.

Well, locally, it's now Tila Tequila. Her real name is Tila Nguyen, which is a lot easier to type than pronounce.

I remember my mom looking at my 9th grade yearbook at Mira Mesa High, and saying "Your school has a lot of Trans and Nguyens." She only pronounced one of the names correctly. Wanna guess which one?

Anywhooo...Tila filed a lawsuit on Monday claiming that Charger Shawne Merriman got into a disput with her, about his drug use, accusing him of assault, battery, and false imprisonment.

She has photos that show some light bruising. Yet, the police didn't feel her story held up (and believe me, they'd love nothing more than to take a guy in that's beat up on a woman...even when the women are standing there saying "That's my husband! Don't arrest him! It was my fault.)

She said that he was doing steroids in front of her. Now really, who would believe that? Not only did he get busted for that a year ago, and is more likely to be tested randomly...what athlete is doing that in front of women he's partying with? Drinking a beer, okay (or, Cristol). Smoking a joint? I can see that. But deciding that some women you picked up at Stingaree, are going to wanna hang at your cool Poway Pad, and watching you inject drugs...nah. It's not gonna happen.

She said that she refused to take drugs and that Merriman responded with "You don't have a choice." Really? So, is she implying he held her down and injected...what, steroids into her? Did he stick a joint in her mouth and yell "Inhale! Do it now!"

Who are you going to believe?

I remember watching those lame Afterschool Specials, and they talked about all this peer pressure. And the thing that always amazed me when I got to school was...nobody does ever pressure you. If you're at a party and someone offers you a beer or a joint and you refuse...they're actually glad. It's more for them.

Maybe if Merriman wanted to sleep with her and she refused and he said "You have no choice." But that would be a whole different set of charges for this Charger.

Now, that immediately got me thinking about Sarah Palin. I've seen her in all these interviews and...wow, she's really not that bright. But I think her daughters former boyfriend (and father of her grandchild), is even dumber.

Now, I had no desire to talke about Levi's Johnson, but...he is going to pose in Playgirl. And he's been making the rounds of the media circus.

When one reporter asked about some negative Palin things, he said something along the lines of "She referred to her child as the retard. She would say 'I'm going to go pick up the retard baby now.'"

Well, anyone can hear that and realize it just didn't happen. Levi is just trying to come up with things to say, otherwise, these reporters won't want to talk to him. His 15 minutes would quickly evaporate.

First, I find it hard to believe Palin would refer to her child that way. Second, if she was, it wouldn't be around anyone that wasn't family.

But hey, Palin can always sue for these types of things. It would shut him up quickly.

Carol Burnett won a lawsuit against the National Enquirer when they said she was drunk at a dinner party. She won a million bucks, and that was in the early 80s I believe. When a million bucks was actually worth something.

Instead Palin, in her infinite wisdom, decides instead on Oprahs show, when asked about if Levi would be welcome at Thanksgiving dinner...she answered the way she did when a reporter asked what newspapers she reads. Since she obviously doesn't read a paper, she paused before saying "I read all of them." When Oprah asked this "tough" question, instead of saying "Come on, Oprah. That's a silly question. Do you really think we're on good terms? But, he is the father of my grandchild, so I wish him the best in life. And I hope he has a great Thanksgiving where ever he choses to celebrate it."

Instead she went on this rambling thing about how he would always be welcome and blah blah blah.

I swear, these celebrities. They're their own worst enemy.

I disagree. She probably hopes that someday they can spend part of a holiday together.

I don't think she hates him after all she did get over him the teenage pregnancy thing.

That being said, I do think she does hate her sisters ex-husband.

Nov. 19, 2009

Not sure what her sisters ex-husband did. I can only imagine, with people trying to sell stuff to these paparazzis and tabloid style TV shows.

Trust me, Palin wants nothing to do with this kid. She will never want to spend a holiday in his presence.

Nov. 19, 2009

Palin, Captain Marshmallow and Tila Tequila are ALL brain-dead losers. They're the car accidents of humans. The windowlickers. The retards. The rejects. The only reason I watch any interview with Palin is for the same reason I watched NASCAR.

Nov. 19, 2009

I think the Merriman story is far from over. If he ever tests positive again, and who knows he was dumb enough to do it once before, then this story will come back to life. This is far from over. Considering where they met and the atmosphere of that way of life, this story has the very appropriate: TO BE CONTINUED tag at the end.

In 1976 Ford was President. Usually the sitting President doesn't face a challenge from his own party; well he did. The opponent was Reagan, who almost beat him. After Ford lost, and Carter won, Reagan was branded an 'idiot' and a 'nut job', and yet four years later he won, and then in 1984 won all but 1 state. Palin is appealing to the same base that Reagan did. If she can inspire these 'red states' she has a chance to do what 'nut job' Reagan did.

I do not think President Obama is a shoe in to win in 2012. I actually voted for Hillary, and then for Barak in November, because I thought she was the better person to be President; I still do. According to recent CNN/CBS polls, not FOX polls, but CNN/CBS polls, Barak's support among so called 'Reagan Democrats' is starting to ebb. If this continues it will be problematic for Obama.

whew..I should be on This Week With George Stpehaoplis!!!

Nov. 19, 2009

You obviously know a lot more about politics than I. But, Palin would not get the nomination from her own party. I'm convinced of that.

Nov. 19, 2009

And that is exactly what Bush (I) and Jack Kemp thought about Reagan. And with Palin already getting her base (white women from red states) all primed, she is, I think, ahead of any of her opponents. McCain won't run again. Jeb Bush's name is tarnished. Gingrich is damaged goods. Haley Barber will come off as a 'white racist red neck'.

But more important? If Barak stays popular, some of the Repulicans will just stay on the sidelines until 2016 when Obama's second term is over, and Hillary is deemed, unfortunately, too old.

Palin is the front runner right now in November 2009. In my opinion of course.

Nov. 19, 2009

But...Barak will beat her.

I had to add that.

Nov. 19, 2009

We need a common man Independent to run.

Nov. 19, 2009

Does RobertScorpio remember why Ford was president?? If so it might make since that he did not have party support. I can say for certain that any comparison that has been made is less than thoughtful.

Nov. 19, 2009

Actually more thoughtful than you think. Carter barely beat Ford as it was. It still remains one of the closest votes for Presidency. And it was none other than Bill Clinton who suggested that Carter won not because of pardoning Nixon, which is the going theory. Clinton attributed Carter's winning to Reagan's relentless attack on the so called 'moderate' Ford. The erosion caused by Reagan cost Ford. Clinton is a very smart person when it comes to looking back at past races.

But whether Ford won or not isn't even the issue here. What is the issue is that the 'national' media branded Reagan a right-wing nutjob. No one gave him a chance after he lost the primary of 1976 to come back and win in 1980, but he did, and the rest, as they say, is history. Who would possibly think that Palin, a righ-wing nutjob could win in 2012. Well, who would have thought in 2004 that a black man would win in 2008? 2008 was Hillary's from the moment Bush got his second term.

In politics, I have learned to never count anyone out this far away from an election cycle. As Yoda would say "the future is fluid". And in politics there is no greater fluid than...time.

Wow, I should win an award with that analogy!!!

Nov. 20, 2009

A little more history, Mr RobertScorpio....it was Ford who pardoned Nixon, not Carter. And Ford was House Minority leader who was confirmed to be VP when Agnew resigned, and then Pres when Nixon resigned, making him the first Pres never to be elected through national polls. His pardoning of Nixon was controversial, as well as the pullout of Vietnam in 1975.

Now, I'm the same age as Josh, and I was alive during this time, but not old enough to make a voting difference. However, I believe that Carter won not because Reagan was a distraction to the GOP and ruined Ford's chances of election (notice I did not say re-election since he was never elected the first time), but because of the turbulant times durin that time frame and the public was just tired of Ford. IMHO, if the Democrats had a stronger candidate than Kerry in 2004, Bush would not have been re-elected, based again on the growing public turmoil with Bush and the war in Afghanistan. Similar comparisons, but not the same, of course.

I agree with Josh in that Palin is an idiot. I also think that 2012 is enough time for the GOP to find another candidate. Palin has no cred with the public. If she was smart, she would have parlayed her AK Governorship to a Senate or House seat to grow her political career. Instead, she quit...and personally, speaking as a registered GOP voter, cannot be placed in any position of power.

Nov. 20, 2009

Yes I know Ford pardoned Nixon. The theory is that Ford's pardon was what cost Ford his re-election. Clinton, and others like Kissenger, now believe it was Reagan's attacks from the right, when Ford ran for election, that cost Ford his job.

If the media over plays this 'Palin is an idiot' mantra, as they did with Bush in 2000 and Reagen in 1980, all it does is riles up the 'grass roots' of the Republican party. And don't forget that congress is at very low approval ratings as much as the Republicans are. All it takes is for Palin, or whom ever, to capture the so called "Blue Dog Democrats" or "Reagan Democrats" to upset Obama.

When BUSH won re-election in 2004, it was the first time since his father beat Dukakis that the winner won more than 51% of the votes. Clinton never did, Bush won in court. So from 1988 to 2004, 16 years, the Presidency of this nation was not won with a so called "51%" majority, until Bush 2004. This means that this country is split right down the middle. Obama won by 7 %. That 7%, mainly from Independents, and right-ringers who did't care for McCain, is what got Obama elected. And CNN/CBS polls are showing erosion there.

Next year's 2010 election season will be very interesting. The sitting President, no matter how popular he is in the middle of his first term (Reagan/Clinton/Bush jr) they always lose ground in congress during the mid-term (2010) election cycle. If the Democrats lose control of the Senate, and 10% of the house seats up for grabs, Obama isn't going to get much done after that. Simply because the Republicans will dog him all the way until 2012, as they did Bush Jr from 2002 on, and as the Republicans did to Clinton from 1994 (Contract with America) on.

Message here? Dont aggitate the Republican base too much or you will get them out in droves. And that is bad for the Democrats. Always has been, always will.

Nov. 20, 2009

Most of us live - and love - to watch the myriad proverbial celebrity (athletes, political and otherwise) train wrecks.

Nov. 20, 2009

Palin becoming president would be solid evidence the dumbing down of America has reached terminal velocity.

Nov. 20, 2009

I don't think it's this "media" playing up the Palin is an idiot thing. When she opens her mouth, and comments on things, I think that without the help of a talking head telling me she's an idiot.

And as RedSox said...the quitting thing (to promote her book, and look at running for President), sure doesn't help things.

Nov. 20, 2009

Sorry Josh, but that is just too simplistic of an answer. Obviously her words are appealing to 'someone'. Her book is selling, she gets big ratings on Oprah. The more the media screems she's an idiot, the more it helps her cause. I think the media should just let her open her mouth and look like an idiot without pointing it out when they get their chance.

Just look at the cable news wars. Its not even funny. FOX is beating the tar out of MSNBC/CNN combined. Its not even close. If the media seems to be going after her then all it does is pushes those so called 'independents' towards Fox.

And Bush fed on this in 2004, so does Hannity and his people. CNN is doing a good job by appearing to position its self between MSNBC (very left leaning) and FOX (way over there on the right). CNN has been very restrained with its coverage of Palin, which is what ABC-CBS and NBC should do.

Make her into another so called 'media martyr', like Reagan claimed to be, Bush Jr claimed to be, and well...you see my point. Let her words do the work for her.

Nov. 20, 2009

As for the media playing it up? Just watch THE VIEW. Just watch CONAN every night. Your Blogs too. Im on the left and even I can see it.

Nov. 20, 2009

Good points. Although, I hate when people talk about books "selling". That isn't really an indication of much.

Sean Hannity, one of the biggest dopes of all-time, along with Glenn Beck, an even BIGGER DOPE, both had best sellers.

Nov. 20, 2009

"Palin becoming president would be solid evidence the dumbing down of America has reached terminal velocity."

VERY well put Ponzi.

Nov. 20, 2009

(#18) Kiss is the biggest-selling American rock group ever. What the hell does that prove?

Nov. 20, 2009

There's ALOT of America that has no sense of good music? Although I do like the song "Loud".

Nov. 20, 2009

And who gets to decide what is good and isn't good music/tv/movies/actors/actresses/songs/singers/groups/plays?

Thats why I never get people who go around judging what other people like, as if it's their mission. I mean, gee, I got Pat Robertson on one end telling me to put down the porn. I got Al Gore telling me to give my dog/cats pills that will lesson the effect of their farts on the ozone and I have Pistolepete telling me what is and isn't good music. I like what I like, you like what you like.

Here is what I like; Barry Manilow, I like the guy. I like shows like American Idol and Hell's Kitchen. I like reading comic books, with heros like Superman and Batman. I like looking at porn with women in it. I like watching MASH and I like watching The Brady Bunch. My favorite singer is ANDY WILLIAMS.

I think the Beatles are over-rated and the Stones/Who are under-rated. I think Frank Sinatra is over-rated and Mel Torme is under-rated. I think South Part is over-rated, I think Batman and the Brave and the Bold is under-rated. I think Bob Marley is uber over-rated, I think Ernest Borgnine is under-rated.

But if you're someone who totally disagrees with me, then fine, don't smell my farts. I even think they smell good too.

Nov. 20, 2009

I see what you mean but let's disect that a bit. American Idol? REALLY? You like a show that promotes laziness? Since the beginning of the history of music, ALL bands/singers had to work their balls off to get noticed. I'm not talking about good bands/singers Vs. bad bands/singers either. I mean EVERYONE got discovered at one point after working hard.

My roommates watch that horrendously exploitive America's Got Talent. One goes on YT everynight and listens to that Susan Boyle bitch. I'm not saying she's good or bad-that's for the public to decide. I'm talking about her working in some dive bar in Ireland or Scotland and having people tell her, "Ya know, Susan....you're a great singer. Why not try and get discovered?" and her telling them, "Ya know....I'm not that good." and then voila!!!! She's Britain s best kept secret. I'm supposed to love this lazy, fat sack of nasty JUST because someone discovered her and she didn't work hard for it? F*** that!!!!

Same thing with Taylor Swift. She gets accolades for her singing when everyone knows she couldn't carry a tune in a bucket without all that fancy recording equipment. She's not even a country artist for Chist's sake!

As a music lover and music purist, I'm appaled at the s that passes for music nowdays. Don't get me wrong-my love for Slayer is another man's hatred of all things death metal but that doesn't mean Slayer didn't work hard to get where they are. We live in one of the most disposable societies man has ever seen. Our media shows it. When people start asking me what I think of John & Kate I tell them point blank-I think those kids should be murdered. As heinous as that sounds and I don't really mean it, it gets my point across. Don't ask me what I think about fluf. There's WAAAAAAAAAAAY too much fluff in today's world. Look at Twilite for example. Grown adults shouldn't be worried about some piece of s movie that's outlived it's 15 seconds of fame. We had The Lost Boys and The Howling. They were decent for their time period. Same thing with any"epic" movie or series. The word epic itself has become synonymous with fluff. I'm not a fan of Star Trek or Star Wars but in the overall grand scheme of things, these were epic films. Star Trek was even pumped yet again for money awhile back for it's money. Did we REALLY need a re-make of it? Hell no. What is wrong with the next generation that requires them to think theirs is better than ours. And what is wrong with our generation for thinking that very same thing?

Nov. 20, 2009

Sorry, have always hated reality TV, whether it is here to stay or not, I will not watch it. Never watched an episode of American Idol, Survivor, etc...none of them...and it gets easier as I live here in Europe and none of those shows are shown! :-)

Plain and simple, Palin is an idiot. If she is elected Pres, everyone should run for the hills. Sorry RobertScorpio for your thoughts, but Reagan was not deemed a "nut job" by the public. Did he hurt Ford's chances of election in 1976? Absolutely...just like Ross Perot hurt GHW Bush in 1992. But what can you do? Reagan was a former Gov., like Palin. But he was not insane about his post political life like she currently is. Just my opinion. There will be a lot of shake-up before the 2012 elections, and Europe will be watching...like me since I don't live in the States. Maybe I don't get the full picture, but I believe I do, and she's just not what the GOP wants...and won't be when the time comes to select a GOP candidate...

Nov. 20, 2009

I have read enough of that election to know that Bush Sr, Kemp and the other moderates considered Reagan a right-wing whacko. Palin is using his blue-print, she has even said as much.

I am not saying she will win, or even get the nomination. What I am saying is counting her out ranks up there with saying the Titanic couldn't sink. The history of politcs is full of surprises. Nothing is a given.

And Obama is no shoe in. His erosion from the middle, as reported yesterday by CNN and today by GALLOP should be a reason to worry. And he better get healthcare done, and decide what he wants from the war. Because the Democrats, if history holds, will lose the Senate. Once that happens, the Republicans will cage his 'vision'.

Nov. 20, 2009

I'm living proof of that erosion from the middle. I'll never vote for him again. I'd rather vote Independent or Republican. Republicans are wolves but Democrats are wolves in sheep's clothing. I'd rather fight my enemy head on than a holographic image.

Nov. 20, 2009

Reagan was probably the last true conservative President, although Clinton was right of moderate. Both Bush's and their cabinets and appointments were definitely whacko material. Kemp, had he been nominated and then elected, was probably the true conservatism movement's last hope.

Palin is a tool. The only reason that some Republicans defend her is because the left attacks her. If anyone actually sat down and read her vies and qualifications they would realize that she isn't qualified for much of any office beyond mayor of some town in Idaho perhaps.

The initial conservative movement died with Reagan, Kemp, and Buckley.

Nov. 20, 2009

redsoxfan, i'm your fan!

Sorry, have always hated reality TV, whether it is here to stay or not, I will not watch it. Never watched an episode of American Idol, Survivor, etc...none of them.

ME TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nov. 20, 2009

Thanks KarenBP! :-)

Nov. 21, 2009

The problem with American Idol is...okay, well, too many to list. But karaoke on TV, just doesn't do it for me. But I can certainly see the appeal of it.

Even when my friends son was on it (adam lambert) I only caught part of one episode.

Nov. 21, 2009

Kiss is the biggest-selling American rock group ever. What the hell does that prove?

By russl

Well, it proves "russl" is an idiot (with nothing better to do than follow his favortie bubble gum rock band "Kiss"!!!).

Hey russl, you still listen to Miley Cyrus too?

Nov. 21, 2009

No, SpermPuppy, my "favortie" would be that New Kids on the Block CD you loaned me. Thanks, by the way.

Nov. 21, 2009

As a kid, I hated KISS. Mainly because, all my friends loved them. And the make-up looked goofy to me. On Alice Cooper, it kinda looked cool. On Paul and Gene, kinda silly.

But in my late teens, I realized songs like Detroit Rock City, Cold Gin, Strutter, and a few others...were really, really good tunes.

Nov. 22, 2009

No, SpermPuppy, my "favortie" would be that New Kids on the Block CD you loaned me. Thanks, by the way.

By russl

I only have Britney Spears CD's, but I am SURE a "burger boy" GED educated loser like you russl has a whole set of BOY BAND cd's!

Nov. 22, 2009

Tell me what's in my record collection, SpermPuppy, since you know. Go ahead. Right now. Tell me unless you're just a bulls***ing false accuser. (Wouldn't expect that from a lawyer now.)

Nov. 22, 2009

Tell me what's in my record collection, SpermPuppy, since you know. Go ahead. Right now. Tell me unless you're just a bulls***ing false accuser. (Wouldn't expect that from a lawyer now.)

Hey "Burger Boy"-I need a shake and fires with that order!

Nov. 22, 2009

How about fries instead of fires?

All talk, no substance. Some things never change.

Nov. 22, 2009

It was a "firewhiner" joke Einstein....but once again, it goes over the head of the GED educated.

Some things never change.

Nov. 22, 2009

Oh, I get it. A guy goes into a Burger King and says, "I want a fire with that order!" You're killing me, SpermPuppy. You're killing me.

Amateur night is Tuesday, I think.

Nov. 22, 2009

Amateur night is Tuesday, I think.

By russl

Every night is amatuer night with you Burger Boy.

You're killing me.

Nov. 22, 2009

Did I miss something? How did you guys get into a fight?

Over boy bands. Hey...you can't knock groups like the Jonas Brothers. I like them. Well, their early stuff, anyway.

heheheheheheh...

I will say this, surfpup. I've heard russl talk a lot about music. And the dude really knows his stuff. I rarely meet people that know more about music or film than I. But when it comes to music, Russ is one of them. And he seems to have good taste in the bands he likes as well.

Nov. 22, 2009

I know I'm late to this party, but I had a disturbing thought the other day: Huckabee/Palin in '12. Think about it.

Nov. 23, 2009

I hope that's the Repub ticket! Guarantees four more years for Obama.
