Not Trick or Treat -- But Trick Plays.
When football players like Tom Brady resort to trick plays and cheating, to win games.
I always hate when a great sports team gives you reasons to hate them. As a kid in the 70s, you could watch the Steelers, or Lakers, and like every player on that squad. Same with the Cowboys.
But in the 80s and 90s, the 49ers and Cowboys had such idiots on the team (Jerry Rice, Deion Sanders, Michael Irvin, were idiots).
I thought the Patriots were a team that was winning Super Bowls, that everyone could like. Then, they got the one guy on the Chargers I hated (Rodney Harrison), who took a lot of cheap shots.
Then, they were caught video taping/cheating.
They also picked up Randy Moss, the biggest idiot on the planet (just to give you a quick history of him....ran over a female cop in his car, when she asked him to move; doesn't run out plays, if he isn't getting along with coaches or the QB). Of course, they're winning and Moss is playing well (leading the league, in fact).
Tom Brady has had an illegatimate kid. That doesn't bother me as much as the stunt he pulled last week. His team was winning, something like 30 to 3, before half time. And what does he do? A stupid trick play. He pretended to spike the ball, to stop the clock. The defense stopped, and then he threw a TD pass.
Now, if you're winning by that much, there's no need for that. But, more important, trick plays have no place in football. Sports shows all say "Well, the defense should be ready for anything." But, sports shouldn't be about looking for loopholes and cheating and trying to get away with doing that. It should be about playing the game.
What would've happened, or will happen, in the future when a QB is ready to spike the ball to stop the play, and some 340 pound lineman hits him full speed? Everyone will say the lineman was wrong, and could hurt or paralyze the guy. But guess what? Right now, they're all telling the defense to keep playing.
So, I say....next time a QB kneels down. Or is ready to spike the ball...the defense should level him. Take his head clean off.
If anyone says you're dirty, just point to Tom Brady and his trick plays.
