i did this poem after i had seen the fictional movie about Dutch artist Vermeer and his 16 year old model for the a picture he had painted that has come to be called the "The Mona Lisa of the North"

i questioned my need to (in a way) vandilize the picture with words written all across the canvas..but ultimately i choose to do so

it reads from the right down to the bottom...then on the left from the bottom up

Cuddlefish...this is the picture i was talking about in the "Best Movie's" for Valentines Day blog u wrote...i love the movie for many reasons including how much a female might become involved in (she became his colourist and ground and mixed all his paints)...and how little a girl/woman could expect in respect and treatment because of her sex and station in life

Beautiful poem and I think the overlay works brilliantly! Thanks, nan!

I could see this as a laptop or cellphone skin art design--so 'right now' of you to take a classic painting and do a typographical job on it, nan--love!

i also was only familiar with the painting SDaniels...but hurried to see the film when it came out and wasn't disappointed...i wonder about the book...it may be much more of an in depth look at that time and it's females travails

thx for the FYI Cuddles and the link again antiG...i think i'll check it out
