Au revoir to noir
Hey monaghan, I hate to call you out - but you don't have any of the facts right...structurally the Whaling Bar was coming undone, it needed massive work, they had artisans actually cut the WB mural out of the wall and have it preserved to be placed again at a new part of the hotel - lovingly and respectfully caring for it. In Paris, Italy in all great cities and villages - sidewalk cafes are ways for people to connect to a place.....who wouldn't want to people watch in La Jolla in a cafe seat sipping an espresso, wine or even better - you can still order the whaler. Lastly, the owners didn't fire all of the folks.....Ray actually retired, and many others are still with us.......others maybe not still there for reasons you can't seem to fathom or want to learn the truth about, which is a pity. Not sure about the paper cup bit......but that sounds just a little bit of an odd statement. For those that seem to love one part of La Valencia, you certainly don't want to see her be relevant in the market place and continue to thrive so that she is around for the next 100 years creating memories. Perhaps you should venture inside and actually try the food, listen to the music, luxuriate in the view and allow an Icon to be more than just a memory of a mexican server not using a paper cup........www.lavalencia.com shares a lot of info, feel free to drop into the hotel and ask to meet with someone to learn the facts, the changes and open your heart to what is now alive and moving forward into the next decades. Nothing was killed, but new life has made her vibrant and successful again so she can be around for your children, mine and the next generations who want to be part of the village. Stop in to La V for info, please don't respond in hate and malicious untruthful gossip and rumors.— December 2, 2015 8:44 p.m.
